I have a few minor questions that I've sent off to Greg but I'm thinking that I am going to pull the trigger on this barring any weird answers.

It's expensive but I love my Fermostat which does cool and heat though I only use the cool side. I don't even use it to it's fullest possibilities but I know cooler fermentations and cold crashes have improved my beers.

The dual sensors allow you to set a hysteresis point based on your setup so that you dont undershoot or overshoot your target temperature. For example, you are using a heater to maintain a certain temperature. The wort is at 60F and you want it at 68F. The heater goes on and warms the box until the wort hits 68F then shuts off. The problem is that you are using a very well insulated box so the temperature of the air is actually 90F. Well, the wort continues to heat until some of this excess heat has bled off, overshooting your target. So, by using the two probe version you can set it so the temperature shuts off a little earlier (66F vs 68F for example) to allow things to stabilize before kicking the heat back on until you reach your target. Generally this is not a huge problem, but if you are using the profile feature and making large temperature adjustments it could be an issue. You will need to manually tweak the setting until you get the response you want.

I have the two thermocouple version but it was prior to the actual hardware being released so I would need to solder in a resistor to make it work. He shipped it to me as a beta of v1.06 software and threw in a free thermocouple so I didnt complain.

Sorry that I'm late to the party. I'm building a new fermentation chamber with a stc-1000. I'm gonna do a paint can heater. But I know a few guys that just buy a heat lamp fixture and put a lower watt ceramic bulb in it. The shroud on heat lamp generates heat like a paint can and the ceramic bulb doesn't produce any light. Something to think about.

That's what I did back in '13 but I did put a hole in the side so I can easily tell when the light blows.

I'm sure that works too, but I did want something easy and plug-n-play. Maybe that solution is too but the FermWrap was something easy for me to get my head around.
That piece arrived today after ordering yesterday from MoreBeer! The only reason I didn't buy that piece from him was that I'd read that the originals that MoreBeer sells come direct from the manufacturer while others come from China and have been known to have some issues. So I bought most stuff from him but this piece from MoreBeer.

Now I need to plan my next brew!

I'm trying to warm 3 fermenters at 1 time

I warm two 6.5 gallon Ale Pails at the same time by putting them on top of the 32 watt fermwrap and using 100 watt paint can heater inside the fermentation chamber as well. I've done several batches like this and even though I use one temperature probe and thermowell the beer in both fermentors have finished with identical FG and taste.

I wondered if laying them flat would work like that. Living in the south, a paint can heater is more than sufficient. I only use a 40w bulb in mine to keep the chamber at 65f in the coldest temps west central GA has to offer.
