In his tweets, Lagunitas' founder (Tony) seems to acknowledge that the public has spoken and has been heard. He came across as very humble IMO.
Again, it's hard to know the real story here. Sometime you HAVE to show some type of action to defend your trademarks so that you can protect them down the road. Meaning, if you let some stuff slide, it's harder to pursue action later so you have to do something even for the little things. Who knows. Mom and Dad are happy again. Cheers.

They need to fire some of their lawyers and hire some more brewers!!! What the heck has happened to the Ruthless Rye anyway darn it, I can't find it on shelves anymore.

I think they aren't making Ruthless Rye at the moment. It's not a production beer listed on their web site except hidden in "archives". I haven't seen any in a while. Their release date list doesn't show it.

Insane, just another case of lawyers gone wild. If I had to choose between the two, at a bar or a party, I'd have either one and it wouldn't matter a bit. I know both beer's are good irregardless of their packaging.
