Paul, one of the other guys at the LHBS mentioned this, as well. The weight isn't going to change, despite the temperature/pressure differential. The tare weight of the tank is stamped on it, so that, plus the ten pounds of CO2 you're getting is going to remain constant for a full tank.
But in any case, I think I can rest easy.

Dave, just adding another voice to say "yes". I guess I didn't fully read the thread/post because I though the issue was with the carb levels, too.
I could have saved you a trip down there as I was told this when I first bought my tank, too (and I've seen it myself).
When I bought my kegerator it already had a hole bored through the wall for the gas line and a mount on the back for the tank so it's not inside any more (not that I had any problems when it was, other than the low reading).
Glad you've got some peace of mind now.

No matter. I was going down there anyway. Had I not needed ingredients, but wanted to ask them a question, I could have called, which I've done before, with kegging questions as well as help with a recipe and to check if they had the ingredients I wanted. I do have peace of mind now, and it's up to me to keep records of usage/replacement so I can be a little more efficient and have better plans for replacement. Getting a second tank for quick replacements might be an option.

Dave are you using keg lube? I had a problem with a tank emptying even though I was not even drinking at the time. Three or four beers a month when somebody came over. The BORG suggested I lube the posts. Still on the same tank going on at least 9 months now.

Do you guys lube your posts? I use it in the lid gasket but never considered using it on the posts thinking it would be hard to clean out of the QDs.

Yes, lubricating all the o-rings; a little goes a long way!

Yes, I lube the gasket on the lid and the posts as well. Early on I was struggling to get the quick disconnects on the posts, and realized what a dummy I was for not putting lube on them. They went on smooth as silk after that, and I won't make that mistake again.
I honestly think it's the cold making the reading so low. I'll keep an eye on the time between replacements, though.

I just lube the rings but not the posts but I've seen where others suggest it.

Mine is always in the red as well as the tank is in the fridge since I want to wait until I move to add the hole depending on where it ends up being placed.
