Thanks guys. I enjoyed the laughs. Bad news BeerLord, I already stopped taking those useless painkillers, I'm going to need all my beer. I was prescribed oxycodone this time, hydrocodone once before. They both make me feel a bit sick, but don't noticeably decrease the pain. I can easily manage this pain, if it gets bad, I have liquor. I watched the doctor stitch it, he seemed very competent. I told him that if it didn't work, I'd be okay. But he told me that I need it to grip with. I'm sure it will be fine. But I also know that there are people hurt much worse every day.

That is why i sit behind a desk and work, for the most part. I probably would have passed out from the blood and died on the damn boat! Speedy recovery!

Glad they had a hand surgeon on call. If he was able to re-attach the tendon parts easily, you should get good return of function. Good luck!

Thanks Doc. It took him a lot of fishing to recover the inner end. He explained that it naturally reverted. It probably didn't help that they kept having me try to flex the finger. Once he got it, he pinned it in place to stitch. I'm believe it will be okay.
I appreciate the humor and support of the Borg after my mishap. I was hoping for my favorite remarks:

Yikes. I was cutting something once, showing my son how to do it safely as I cut into my hand and had to go to the hospital also...

John sorry to hear this, I haven't been on the Borg much the past few days taking advantage of some spring like weather and first I've read your post.....I hope all heals wells for you. Hand injuries are not good.

Thanks again guys. I saw the doctor today, I need six weeks of PT. A little bummed that my already delayed sailing season won't start until July. Seriously thinking of getting a hook.
