Re: How do you dry your tubing?
I rinse the hoses out first then flush them with StarSan and then flush with water. Then I grab them in the middle and look like I'm gonna whip the floor with them, of course I do this in the garage not on my wife's floors. The little moisture that doesn't quite dry up doesn't concern me because before using them again they'll either have boiling wort or StarSan run through them again. I've never noticed and mold or anything growing inside of them, if that were the case I'd just toss them out and replace them with new hoses.

I've always gone the "don't fear the foam" route meaning when finished with them, as with any other equipment, I clean with hot soapy water and rinse well. Before storing I "slosh" StarSan in them and spray the out side liberally with same then place the tips of one end of the tubes against the edge of an open upper cabinet door and close the door; the tube is trapped vertically, bottom pointing to towel on kitchen counter top to drain and since the moisture in said tubes is StarSan I'll not worry about putting them away with some vapor in them since I know I will re-sanitize just before using them anyway.Kealia wrote:I seem to come across this "problem" every time I brew and I want an answer dammit.
How the hell do you get your tubing completely dry? I'm talking about things like your racking cane tubing? I push hot water and sanitizer through them when I am done with them and then hang them up but they never seem to get 100% dry. There's always some droplets in the line and they don't seem to go away.
I'm not concerned about the tubing on my immersion chiller since that water never touches the beer/wort, but the tubing on my racking cane is another story. The last thing to go through there is sanitizer, and it's the first thing to go through again before I use it again but I'd like to see it 100% dry after I use it.
So, let's hear it. How do you get your dry?

Thanks for all the input guys. Sounds like I am not alone in the way I do things in terms of having some moisture left in the tube when I put it away. It's not been a problem yet so I'll just continue as-is.

I just let mine air dry, but after washing them I usually give them a really good shake to get most of the excess out. Yeah, there will usually be some water spots, but that's ok with me. It's gonna get sanitized before use anyhow so it's all good.
