I like beer. I like food.

As mentioned above, if I were looking for deep advice on food I may go elsewhere but sharing some BBQ notes and stuff here is fun, too.
And who knows, maybe we have some foodies here that will surprise us.

I don't thinking your asking too much at all Birdie. I'm with Whamo, food and beer go hand in hand. Many breweries that also serve food often have great pairing suggestions so you know what food to order with their beers.

I'm also one of the members here that likes doing some 'cooking'....Yes this a beer making forum and we all come here to talk about and help others make beer, but a lot us [read most] like doing some BBQing, smoking, canning, freezing and fermenting. I say a simple sub forum on this subject would be good here.................

I guess that's enough talk and I think a food area would only enhance this forum.
I say this should happen if Leigh agrees.

While the valid point was made regarding the specificity of websites (not asking for brewing advice from a model train hobbyist forum, for instance), I lean more toward a food/cooking sub-forum. Food and beer go hand-in-hand, as noted by others, and the proper beer can be a valuable addition to a recipe.

If we're going to get nitpicky, this is a homebrewing forum, so no discussions of commercial beers should be allowed. Okay, we don't have a sub-forum for it, but you get my gist. Since a number of people post about cooking, and it's not so far afield from brewing (as opposed to photography or rock collecting), I'd like to see a cooking sub-forum. As the Dawg pointed out, it would at least make it easier to find a thread you wanted to reference from a month or two prior.

I think we ought to add a "Food Court" to the Borg.

+1 to Dave's comment, on facebook I found through a "meat smoking group" that someone had asked what everyone drank while they were tending the smoker, I brought up homebrew and one of the guys directed me to his "brewing group" and found a lot of the same people belong to both groups, which actually clutter my news feeds since there are so many people posting. But this, a simple single sub-forum, would let us pick and choose what we want to read and follow.

I'm not sure how a poll would help.

For instance, since I only had to work a half day today :) (since I have to work a half day tomorrow :( ), I bought some crusty country French bread (made with rye) from a local French bakery, and made my own vinegar and oil dressing for my spring greens to have with my fresh asparagus and salmon. The Pilsner Urquell was tasty as well.

I don't see the 'new' forum anywhere either. I have a great killer Flank steak recipe that I would like to share. It tastes even better when paired with a Stout.
