Yep, should be a full hands-on experience! I briefly spoke with the brewmaster; he's supposed to get back to me with some dates.

I responded before reading the thread  I won't do that again. This will tell you one way or another if you ever want to own a small brewery. Congratulations.

Congrats, comrade! I knew you were one smart brewer, but this confirms it. Enjoy the full-scale brew day. I'm already looking forward to your insights on the experience.

Russki, that is absolutely awesome! When I grow up I want to be just like you! ;)

That is something to be very proud of not only getting BOS for the Porter and being able to brew it on a big 10 bbl system, but the fact that all of your brews were rated consistently high. It really shows that it wasn't a fluke and that your processes and methods are sound!

Congrats Sir, Congrats!

Thanks Louie!

I have the porter along with a few other beers in another competition; the judging is in a week or so. Curious to see how they do in a larger competition (there's 500 entries in this one). Anyone else entered the 2013 Schooner Championship?

Something I found interesting in the last competition is that the highest scoring beer is not necessarily the one getting the BOS. As a matter of fact, the beer I got 3rd place for had better scores than the porter in its flight, but lost in the BOS round...

Please do not post pictures of you brewing this. I don't think I can afford a 10 bbl brewery right now. :laugh

russki wrote:A couple weeks ago I put 4 of my beers into a small homebrew competition at a local beer and wine festival. The judging was last weekend, and I finally got my score sheets. To say I was surprised is an understatement!

All scored in the high-30s to low 40s, with one taking 3rd place overall and the other taking BOS.

Now I get to brew my BOS Baltic Porter on a production scale at Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville IL, probably sometime in October!
