For how long? I'd have to shut down the other feeds to my other kegs, although, if it's only for ten minutes or so, no harm done.

I just feed that pressure till you can hear it stop hissing into the keg. It wouldn't be much of a start to carbonating, but it would be a bit of a head start.

Well, I went and did it. While I was at the LHBS yesterday, I asked if they had small kegs for sale, and they did, so I told them to wrap it up and I'll take it.

They converted it from pin-lock to ball-lock for me, washed it out, pressurized it, and I was good to go. I washed it again and sanitized it when I got home, and kegged the batch of Red-Eye Rye I had cold crashing.

I think this was a good decision. It just feels right.

I'll still have to bottle the occasional 2.5 gallon batch, but I may use more bomber bottles for that, to cut the time down even more. Now that I'm kegging, I'm starting to care less and less for bottling.

I have kept about 2 cases of 12 oz bottles around for comps. but collecting 22's, 1/2 g and 1 g growlers for all other bottling or transporting purposes that may arise.

I'm trending in that direction, too, Dawg. I've got plenty of 12-Oz bottles for comps and general bottling. I'm starting to build up my supply of bombers, and I've got two growlers, which, for my purposes, should be plenty for transporting kegged beer to a function. I bought a growler filler tube from my LHBS when I first started kegging, and it works very well. I probably won't have to use it much, though. Still, it's like an Allen Wrench; you hardly ever need it, but when you do, nothing else will work.

It really has to be a special occasion to get me to bottle. what did you give for the little keg if I may ask?

I don't know. I didn't itemize or scrutinize my register receipt. I could tell you a ballpark for the whole deal, but I also bought ingredients for three batches, totaling ten gallons, as well as some Whirlfloc tablets, which I was running low on.
