Coming from the person who sent you a beer with a metallic off-flavor before realizing it, I'm sure I can relate to the disappointment aspect... I'm sure it's a fine brew nonetheless...

If you think Belas had a good aroma by the time you tried it, then you're gonna like what dry hopping in the keg does.

I did a 10 minute boil of 1/2oz + 1/2oz hopstand with of Nelson Sauvin in a couple of 2.4 gallon batches of beers now. And what I can say is theiiiiiir Grape!

mashani, do you use them often? I really like them for the fact that they are so unique in both flavor and aroma.

I've used them 3 times this year, which is basically every time I've found a pack at my LHBS. I love them in everything I put them in, but if you don't like white grapes / white wine, then you might not. The amount of flavor I got from just that 1/2oz short flavor/aroma boil + 1/2oz hop stand is intense.

EDIT: I can only imagine how intense the grape would be in that saison recipe Northern Brewer is selling with the combo of wine grape must and the Nelson. It's something that folks would either love or hate. Which I think is pretty much the boundaries of this hop, some folks love it and some folks hate it.

Went to the LHBS today at lunch and picked up the correct grain bill for this brew and cleared my schedule for tonight. I'm re-brewing tonight. Yes, I'm neurotic that way - but I know I'm not alone here!

My turn now.

This poured with a nice tan head that left a layer across the beer all the way to the bottom of the glass. The aroma was very grape/wine like, not strong but present and very nice.

My wife tried it and said "Oooooh, I like this one. I would drink this if you made it". Now keep in mind she has NEVER said this about ANY beer I've brewed. So you've got that going for you. Mark that down as a good thing.

The color was a nice ruddy brown color, but not clear. I'll take the blame for the clear because it has only been in the fridge a few days and I could have let it settle longer, but, well y'all know how that goes.
It had a very nice rich mouth feel to it. The kind that coats your tongue in beer goodness at the start and hangs on to the end.

This is my first time having Nelson Sauvin hops and I can see what the fuss is about. It brings a nice grape flavor into play with the malt in your mouth.

With the nice subtle flavors tasted here I can see why Ron is upset with this batch. This is a really well brewed beer with no flaws and great grape aroma and taste.
That other batch must have been killer.

I'm glad SWMBO liked it! My wife hates the smell of this one, but over the past two years has learned to like hefs and wits.

So I guess it's Summer Ale night. Here's my take. I should first say that my sniffer and tasters must be all messed up. Or, this just goes to show you how different people perceive different things. Because my perceptions of the hops are completely different than what you guys are talking about.

The first smell was a strong tangerine. I even had my wife smell it and she had it at tangerine too. Then the first taste was grapefruit. But as it warmed up, the tangerine and grapefruit diminished some and it turned into a very balanced ale. It was very good. It had a nice malt sweetness to it that matched well with the citrus flavor I was getting from the hops. I did not get much of the grape or white wine characteristic that you guys mentioned earlier.

This beer is perfectly named...as this is a great summer ale. I thought it was very refreshing. And I wished I had another, because two in row would have been really good.
