Best of luck, though I'm sure you don't need it.
I, too, am thinking of entering a comp this fall. But the nearest drop-off location is over an hour away, and I detest packaging beer for shipping. Eventually, my desire for certified beer judge feedback will probably win out over my distaste for shipping prep, but that's not for sure yet.

I know what you mean. It's a bit of a pain. Even though the drop-off points for both competitions aren't terribly far away, I'm still using the same packaging methods I'd use if I were shipping them myself. Lots of bubble wrap and packing tape. I'm sorry you have to drive all that way to drop them off. The second competition I'm entering has a drop-off location that's my LHBS, so when I go to get more ingredients, I can just bring it with me. But they're not always that convenient.

Well, my first competition (Knickerbocker Battle of the Brews) is tomorrow, 10/21.
Wish me luck, and as soon as I know the results, win, place, show, or bust, I'll post them. When I get my score sheets, I'll post those, too.

Thanks, guys.
I've been following their Facebook page, so I'm expecting the results to be posted there when available. Thing is, I don't know when that will be. Obviously don't even know when my flight is slated for judging. I'm also working today, noon to 7 pm. So I'll check on it when I get home.
As is my usual superstitious custom, I've chilled a bottle from that batch, and I'll drink it while I look up the site.

Well, the results are in, and I didn't win anything. I'm okay with that.
I'll just wait until my scoresheets arrive and see what the judges said.
Next week I'll be dropping my entry off for the second competition. Same beer same batch. Judging for that one in November.

No worries Dave, if you like it, drink it. That's all that really counts.
You gave it a go and good for you!

Yeah, a prize is nice, and I know because I've got one. But the value of entering a competition is the feedback. And this beer recipe has a competition history for me (a gusher, which was embarrassing as hell), so I wanted an opinion on it that wasn't clouded by that. The comments I got on the gusher were positive, and the number score wasn't bad (something like a 33 or something, which is not bad, considering the gushing).
Well, I'm entering this same beer from the same batch in another comp soon, judging to be held in November. So I've got another chance, and I'll get twice the feedback.
