Because the insane border collie posse is invading my house tomorrow.
Re: I deserve a homebrew because....
there is too much snow where I brew at on the patio
Re: I deserve a homebrew because....
Because I can still carry a 98lb a/c up the 9 low steps on the front walk, the 2 steep steps on the stoop, and into the bedroom without crying.
I may have had my reward first though. I got hugs from two beautiful 18 year old blondes in sequined dresses. No, I didn't go to a gentleman's club for lunch. My neighbor's twin daughters have prom today.
And yes, I am bragging!

Re: I deserve a homebrew because....
Because I came back to work today after a wonderful week off and am swamped with work as well as swamped with 2 rooms slightly flooded with 2 days of rain when I was away.
Makes the week I had seem very, very far away.

Re: I deserve a homebrew because....
Hi Borg,
It's been a while, I thought this thread best to summarize my absence and what I've been up to.
I had to take an abrupt break from brewing in January to evict someone I used to trust from my life. That took longer than I expected and it sucked. I also focused on my skiing this winter until May, 3rd, when I called my season over. Maybe the best season of my life (so far). 49 ski days is brag worthy for a drone from NJ.
While that unpleasant process was happening, I also met someone awesome. A true friend. Maybe my next best friend. We drank a lot. 4-8 bottles of wine a week, plus countless beers. If you follow me on untappd, you might understand a little.
On May 28th we took a six week break from drinking to focus on our physical being. I lost 5.5 pounds and 3" off my waist and hips. I've also discovered CrossFit, and that been a big part of my transformation. I really like the social and coaching aspect that my box has.
I brewed a wheat ale, or American Hefeweisen in April. 6.6%. Lots of wheat flavor, wow. Not exactly what I planned, but damn good. I also have my version of a Tripel in the fermenter that I'm going to bottle tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some free time to post up the recipes and some pics over the weekend.
Mr. Rufus's Pineapple Wit is on my radar for my next brew. I'd really like to have some witbier around. After that, a coffee/chocolate imperial stout to age in time for Winter 14/15.
To keep in spirit of the thread, I deserve a homebrew because I am mighty awesome. I have pushed my self beyond where I thought my limits were and exceeded my own expectations. Cheers!

Good to hear from you Root Skier and that all is falling into place. Life takes some turns at times and you just have to go/deal/perceiver/live/hate/love/laugh/cry/drink at times. Glad you had a awesome ski season. Don't understand about all that snow stuff (Georgia boy all the way), but do know about enjoying pleasures of what one loves.

Thanks for the update Root. I like what you report, and it's implications. Brewing is not the only place to grow and learn. I'm always on the lookout for my next change/lesson.

Wow. Well, Amy, at least you're not dreaming you're back in high school and attending class in your underwear.
Stick with it, and you'll do fine, I have no doubt. You probably already know most of this stuff already.
