The dubbel I made with about 2" piece cut up real black licorice in the boil.

I will do it again but only with 1" piece. This tastes good - it's a dubbel after all - but the licorice is strong enough that this is pushing the edge of what I might call "Belgian Rootbeer". I wanted it to be more in the background. So 1" or maybe even just 1/2" next time I try it.

T8r's Blue Moon Clone FIRST POUR from April 6th bottling. What a fantastic aroma from opening the cap to the pour to the sniff after setting for 10 minutes (I got sidetracked-party foul maybe)...what a very refreshing pleasurable brew this was. Sometimes I even amaze myself.

Would it be wrong to say: "not enough"?

Kathy and I are on the road tonight. At the hotel bar started with Highland oatmeal porter, then a Stone Levitation, and finally a peanut butter porter float for dessert.

Sitting in Leavenworth, WA tonight. Wife is sippin on a good Schmitt & Sone Ausslese, and I'm hitting the 20oz Bitburger Pils. This is a tourist area set up in Bavarian style. First time in my life I have paid this much for a hotel room... wow. Can't be too picky without reservations in this place. We ate at a Bavarian Guest Haus, we are both stuff'd. These brewskis are pretty darn good. Hopefully I won't get too tipsy as tomarrow, I plan on hitting a few of Pikes Brewry treats in Seattle! Fun-fun, wish y'all were here.

Had the next to last Sticky Wicket Oatmeal Stout, just the compare bottle left to see how my Oatmeal Stout stacks up against it - that will be ready around July 4th. SAMBO asked for a St. Valentine`s Cherries in Honey but I mistakenly opened a White House Honey Ale.

Straffe Hendrik quad. Absolutely amazing. And Inkleg, I must say that your Ovila and this beer taste an awful lot alike! Delicious dark fruit notes. I love De Halve Maan's beers. I love Bruges. I miss Bruges. I want to go back.

Wow, Thank You for the compliment Phil. I in turn must Thank mashani and BigPapaG for suggesting to add the D-90 candi syrup in the recipe after primary fermentation had slowed down. :clink:

Had my Batch 10 IPA with dinner, then my Irish Red, also batch 10. What I mean by batch 10 is the 10th version of each. I keep tweaking the recipes.
We arrived at our vacation rental today and I brought a case of various homebrews.
