Kegged my Men in Black IPA today. Yesterday, I brewed my collaboration Deep Ellum IPA.
Gotta work on something other than an IPA next I guess.

Bottled my Bourbon Barrel Porter today. Tasted very good. I was a bit worried that the bourbon would overpower the beer but it does not seem to. Will see how it tastes in 1-2 months.

Bottled up a batch of Double Highway; a Belgian Dubbel ale finishing with a FG of 1.010, for a 7.6% ABV. I'm looking forward to giving some these out around Halloween when it's all ready!

I'm going trick-or-treating at your house, then!

Guess I'll know in 4 weeks or so....
Don't think you can go wrong with that combo.

Bottled a fiver of South Ferry Steam Beer yesterday (got 52 bottles out of it! Yowza!). Going to Cooperstown with the wife and the bhoyo today, and tomorrow I have off, so I'll be brewing five gallons of Bit O' Bitter.

Yeah, this sounds good. SMaSH brews are a good way to get your chops with AG brewing. You learn the process without fussing over the malt/hops bill, and you wind up with very satisfying beer. If you want to tweak the recipe in the future, it's easy to do so, and by then you're confident of the procedure, so you can get creative. I've come up with a couple of house recipes this way.
But Maris Otter/Kent Goldings is a winning combination, and aside from maybe working on the hops schedule a little in the future, this should be an enjoyable beer.

If you hit the right balance, that will be a very enjoyable dessert porter. Good job, Doc!

Brewing up my RCE Irish Red Ale! Got busy with some stuff that came up yesterday, so I didn't get to it. So, I got up extra early and started brewing while SWMBO was still asleep. Talk about "therapeutic" brewing, try leaving SWMBO in bed while you brew, it's awesome!
Anyway, 40 mins left in the boil.

Brewing up the RCE Christmas Ale Rayyankee and I put together. I'm mid boil right now. The garage smells awesome and I'm battling the bees. My hat has taken out about 8 so far.

Bees = protein. I think they are good for helping the yeast attenuate. Think of them as nutrients.

Brewed a hop forward APA to use up the lingering can of Northwest Pale Ale I won from Mr. Beer a while back. I just did it as a small partial volume boil with 1/2# dme, and did 1/2oz Ahtanum hops @10, added the HME to drop the temp, tossed in another 1/2oz of Ahtanum, put the lid on and let it stand with all the hops for 20 more minutes, giving it a swirl once in a while. Pulled the hops, added cool water to my LBC, poured it in and topped up to 2.5 gallons. I'm not going for IPA but APA like beer, ended up with 1.054, which is fine. IBUs should be in the mid 40s somewhere which is fine. I may add some more Ahtanum as a dry hop, it depends on how the sample seems. I'm hoping with the extra flavoring from the boil and hop stand and diluting the base HME a bit I'll mask some of the POR I don't like in the straight up refill. I pitched a whole pack of Nottingham, so it should ferment out somewhat dry and clean.
