Hi. Brand new here and have only brewed one batch of wheat beer using a Mr Beer kit. It came out really good. I have since bought a Brewdemon fermenter and plan on brewing up some beer tomorrow. Looking forward to getting lots of info on this forum.

Hi all!
I'm a new brewer, waiting for my first batch to condition.
Looking for recipe ideas for my next brew - Light, citris and Pale Als are favorites
Anyone knows how can I receive the discount for refills? Thanks!

So stupid new guy question. My Demon Brewer Fermentor came with bubble on top. What does it do? What is the deal with the max line and it seems to fluctuate from max on one side or the other? Pros cons about using it?

Airlocks are used to allow the co2 built up during fermentation to escape and not allow oxygen to get into the beer which will oxidize and ruin the beer. You can fill the airlock with StarSan or even vodka to the fill line. As co2 is released, especially during active fermentation, you will see the liquid move around. I do suggest using airlocks and making sure that they have liquid in them.
What wonderful brew do you have inside the fermenter??????

Vodka you say? I just put distilled water into it. Did I do this wrong?
I am trying out a Cider kit I found in Brew Demon. The smell of it already has me thirsty and I just started it last night. I think it was called Red Devil Cider.

Distilled water is "ok" but doesn't protect against the water getting contaminated from outside bugs. So if it gets sucked into the fermenter (it can happen, normally due to rapid temperature or air pressure changes, but in your case with the soft plastic also if you pick it up and squeeze it then let go). Vodka will murder anything that gets into it so is better protection.
You don't *need* to use an airlock with your fermenter if you leave the lid seal out of your lid and you plug up the whole with the solid stopper or the venting stopper that came with it.
I personally use free venting fermenters and find airlocks only useful for long term storage.

I’ve always used tap water in my airlock and have never had a problem with 80 some beers. You can use vodka, but don’t be afraid of water either.

Yes, it's all "hypothetical" problems. It's just a question of how paranoid people like to be. I don't even bother with airlocks, that's how un-paranoid I am LOL.
