I hate to slight a home-team brewery, but this brewery has not up until now lived up to the level of our other great breweries here. Even so, when I saw singles of their cans for $1.25 for 16oz, I figured I'd give them another shot. Was this the worst IPA I've ever had? No... Was it great? Hardly... Was it the best thing I've had from Fat Bottom? Pretty sure that's correct... Worth the $1.25? Maybe... probably. Worth buying again? Likely not... Lots of other, better options. Though, in reality, if I were to rank the Nashville breweries by their IPA production, this brewery might fit comfortably in the middle. Nashville really isn't an IPA town, it seems. Yazoo produces a couple good ones... the 10 Year White IPA is great, and the Hop Project is different each batch, but is usually solid. Blackstone as well. Cool Springs Brewery's regular IPA is quite good. Bosco's has a fairly decent IPA. Jackalope has actually solidified their IPA as well. Beyond that? TN Brew Works? Nope. Turtle Anarchy? Nada. Czann's? Ehh. Black Abbey. Zip. Little Harpeth? No way. All of those breweries produce better beers in total than Fat Bottom by a long shot, but in terms of IPAs... They don't really do them so much. An interesting thing I've recently started to realize about our breweries.
I like Fat Bottom's cans and logos, but as a brewery... well... they have good food at the brewpub. Not the recommendation you want for your brewery, eh? But, they are the only brewery in East Nashville, aka Hipster Haven. And, oh those hipsters have latched onto the place, so I'm sure they are doing pretty well. I suppose that gives them no good incentive to up their game unfortunately, but it's working for them, so I can't fault them too much...

Bring them some of you great beers and make an offer to brew one for them to try. The rest will be history.

OK, one more for the night. My all-time favorite beer from Yazoo each year, and I have a lot of favorite Yazoo beers, so that's saying something. Always happy when Fall Lager season (and Fall Ale season in years before it) comes around. And I like the new artwork that Yazoo is going to for their labels. All of the beers are going to this more art-forward style, and I'm digging it. Real consistency in look and feel.

Hot tea. I'm officially out of drinkable beer. Well, I could pour some out of the fermenter awaiting kegging.... it is beer albeit uncarbed.

I think Sam Adams changed its Pumpkin beer recipe because I really enjoy it this year. Also their Harvest Saison is quite tasty too. Impressed with their fall selection. The Oktoberfest is alright. Wouldn't buy a 6 pack the Oktoberfest but the others I would definitely buy.

Last night went to a local restaurant with plans of trying three or more beers. Called the day prior to see what they had - Founder's Dirty Bastard, Arcadia Whitsun, Arcadia Starboard Stout (served on nitro tap), Bell's 2 Hearted and Amber, Arbor Strawberry, ... Got there and discovered most of the taps had been changed, and that their "happy hour - $1.50 off premium drafts" didn't include the nitro tap. Ended up with Bell's Amber all around.

Have been on vacation in Destin, Fl for the past week. The Florida panhandle doesn't really have a lot of good craft beers, but we did find a few decent ones. Luckily I brought a case of homebrew of various styles. Just finished a 100 Years War IPA, Fedora Dave's recipe which I slightly altered by using a full pound of amber DME instead of the 1/2 pound in Dave's recipe. Tastes great, but has a kick at 8% ABV.

Yea, Unapologetic isn't their best but it's a bit different from their norm. Not much but enough difference to enjoy.
Tasting my Coconut IPA. It's drinkable but no head and no aroma. At least you can taste the coconut.

Kicked the keg of OKTOBERFESTIV-ALE, had to revert to the Bronze Medal Pils for a couple pints! Just figured out I can get 3 kegs in the keggerator and have the adapter for the third tap! Now must have at least 3 different brews kegged!
