docpd wrote:Brewed a Honey Bourbon Pale Ale today. My wife recently bought some Jim Beam Honey Bourbon and it tasted so good I decided to try it in a beer. I have the oak cubes soaking in it now and will add to the fermenter with one week to go.
Sounds good Doc...
Used to be a big fan of Jim Beam original, but alas, no longer.
Did try the Evan Williams Honey Bourbon though but I found it cloyingly sweet for my taste.
Curious, how much oak are you using for a five gallon batch and is it American light oak or something else?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds good, indeed. Let us know how it turns out, Doc.

Bottled Big Bad Red, my third Red after Ann Arbor Red and Michigan Red. Coupled with Round Tyre, my Fat Tire clone and I Failed To Jump Over The White House Fence Honey Ale, I now have a great Amber / Red selection. By end of November I will have 14 different beers to drink. Brewing is temporarily halted due to a very, very adequate supply.

Nothing. I bought and crushed my grains for my RCE a week ago but didn't get to brew it then or this past weekend.

A rare occasion for me today. Bottled this year's vintage of Saint Sebastian Tripel which usually has an OG of 1.080-1.083 but this go around started at 1.094. I credit this success to my digital thermometer. Hitting exact temps definitely affects how the beer turns out. Anyhow, FG was 1.017 for 10.2% abv. The reason why today was a rare occasion was because I also got to brew after bottling. Did up a batch of revised recipe Bubs' Pale Ale, which I subbed out Belma for Huell Melon and changed the addition times to emphasize hop aroma and malt flavor.

I'm going to bottle my 2G batch of MrB Imperial Red tomorrow. It's the batch I made for a friend for Christmas.
This batch will be bottle-primed straight from the LBK which I haven't done in forever. Heck, I haven't bottled in a while at all so this is going to take longer than it used to but I don't have a lot of plans this weekend so no harm, no foul.

Just got home from 2 weeks in Richmond VA and kegged my brown ale. Sample tasted pretty damn good. Nice and malty and nutty! Looking forward to this one being on tap.

Just bottled, in 12oz bottles, a 1G recipe of American Pale Ale from Craft-a-Brew. It used Golden Light DME, steeping grains, and some Perle and Cascade hops. So I'm anxious to taste it and see how well it came out.

Brewed at my LHBS for Teach a Freind to Brew Day and I might have done a few things wrong
.
I didn't oxygenate my wort, I pitched my yeast high at 76* and I'm not controlling fermentation temperature...........oh..........wait........I brewed a Saison............never mind.

Hahaha. Teaching a friend to brew a Saison as their first brew might lead to turning them into me. Do you really want that?

Gonna keg the Straw Boater Blonde Ale this morning. I'll be able to fill a growler with it for Thanksgiving, which pleases me. I won't be brewing, but I need the day off to really recharge my batteries.

Kegged a batch of an Evil Twin clone while mashing in a Double IPA, featuring Chinook hops on this one.
Final gravity on this Evil Twin clone (featuring Citra hops) indicates an ABV of 6.4 %.
