Re: Pliny the Elder
Paul....you need professional help. When you say Pliny doesn't have enough hops, there's a problem.
Can't wait to hear how it turns out.

Somewhere, someone has a list of ALL my problems and its continuing to grow. Basically, as long as I have the poundage of hops in my freezer, there's not enough hops in my IPA's.

YEah, I don't think Larry, Curly and Moe qualify as "professional help".

would depend on the type of "professional help" you need don't it?
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: Pliny the Elder
Pliny is kegged. Smelled wonderful. I wanted to warm it up and use it for bath water but I don't think it would be drinkable after a bath with all the toe-jam. Might have to try that next time!

Here's a blurry, cross-eyed review (I am feeling very hoppy at this moment).
Let me first say that I tasted this in between Ghost sightings. And, tomorrow, whilst brewing, I'll have one with the twin (my able bodied assistant) and get his comments before our taste buds try something else but..................IT HAS NO FUSELS! Yea!
It's a good, clean, hoppy beer. Not that I'm overwhelmed. Maybe another 5-7 days or maybe I should keg hop???????
It's not as good as I would like but a fine beer that I could drink every day. Certainly better than my home made recipes. And did I mention NO FUSELS?
The aroma could be stronger but it's got a balanced taste. I wonder what I could keg hop it with? Jeff, should I hit it with Columbus, Simcoe, Centenial or all? How much? Help a brotha out!

Nice color and head Paul, pretty clear with good head for 7 days on the gas.
I think we're running the same Pliny recipe, grains and hops wise. The only thing I do different is in the 2nd dry hop. I lose the 1/4oz in the secondary and go with 1oz of each in the keg instead.

Re: Pliny the Elder
It's been a long day helping steward for the Suwanee Beer Festival and I'm going back to help tomorrow. Good news and not so good.
My Pliny scored highest in the flight out of 19 beers with a score of 44. The next highest were scored 40 and 39.5, but when they brought the top 3 back to finalize for placing, mine ended 3rd.
But I'll take a 44 all day long!!!!!!!!! I'll post the score sheet when I get it.
