Brewed 5 gallons of No Lightfoot, an Edmund Fitzgerald clone. YTD total is now 84.26 gallons. Might get 1 more 5 gallon recipe in this year, restocking Ring Your Bell Brown.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
I didn't like the aroma of the Ahtanum hops (smelled 'grassy'), so I did a dry hop addition of Citra hops on 12/6, & another dry hop of more Citra hops this morning on 12/10. I may just throw out those Ahtanum hops, or try some in a Belgian ale.Rebel_B wrote:I'm brewing a batch of a Double IPA. I'll be doing an aroma addition of hops using Ahtanum pellets. My LHBS had a special price on these (old hops), so I thought I would try them out.

I recall using Ahtanum at some point and don't remember them smelling like that. Sounds like you made the right call + you can't go wrong with Citra!
Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Brewed a coffee porter today and kegged a black IPA.
For the last day off of the year (other than holidays) I can't ask for more. OK, I could but that would be selfish of me.

I'm doing my pre-mash thing again and mashing:
3.00# Crisp Gleneagle (floor malted) Maris Otter
0.25# Bairds Chocolate Malt
0.25# Crisp English Brown Malt
0.25# Castle Belgian Biscuit Malt
0.25# Castle Special B Malt
0.25# Torrified Red Wheat
I'm going to bring that to a boil, cool it, and then divide it between 2 containers. 1/2 will go into a batch of brown ale that I will likely brew tomorrow, and the other half for future batch(s).

I kegged an APA made with El Dorado and home grown cascades. Will keg anot IPA (El Dorado and citra) next week. Not sure when I'll have time to brew after that (have to time brewing and kegging around travel).
Also spent some time on the phone with my brother who kegged his first batch (first brew) for my mom today. Sounded like he doesn't get the liquid dip tube clean enough. The beer is just trickling out, but water pours freely from the other keg. So he's going to sanitize that keg, transfer the beer and thoroughly clean this one.
His brew was an island brewing custom IPA. Not a clone, but heady topper inspired.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
I'm bottling the Hopsperiment - Ahtanum this morning, and then turning it around and brewing a new amber ale that I call Fogbank. I needed a darker beer in the pipeline, and this is going to be a mild single-hop ale utilizing Hallertau. I think it'll be a good addition to the Brauhaus rotation.

Will be kegging Down Unda IPA (3oz Galaxy), and Divergent IPA (Bitter charge 1ozNugget, F&A 4oz Mosaic), both FG 1.003 from one wort, separate boils, mash temp of 150 accounted for the higher attenuation from BRY-97 yeast. These two samples taste so good right now can't wait till they are carbonated next weekend.

I brewed a 1G AG Uncle Sam Imperial Brown Ale Saturday afternoon. Boy, it didn't take long for it to get active, I put a blowoff tube and bottle on it for the first couple days and it needed it. It seems to have calmed down some so I've now switched to just an airlock and it's bubbling nicely.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Today I brewed a 3.5G batch of Mosaic Pale Ale. OG 1.057. I'm going to hit it with 3oz of Mosaic or 2/1 Mosaic/Citra when it's done fermenting so the aroma pops like an IPA.

Working on a 3 gal. test recipe for Dry Irish Stout to eventually end up in the whiskey barrel. Used my Ceral Killer mill and Ph meter for first time today. Missed the mill pic, but Ph in action.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Boil is on, feels like stepping back in time using older pot and burner, no pump and just an immersion chiller. Couldn't see setting up 13 gal pot and system for 3 g batch. Did use some new equipment for the mash though!
