Kegged More Hops Matter today. With all the hops, only got 3.75 gallons in the keg. Dayum, what a loss.
Will try a taste test soon.

Glad to finally get a brew day in.

Caramel Coconut Wee Heavy today, which I plan to open during the holiday season 2016. Undershot my OG by a bit . Was shooting for 7-8%, but it looks like I'll get 6%. Had two thermometers in play that had differing readings, so likely my culprit during the mash, but RDWHAHB. Will secondary this on unsweetened coconut and cacao nibs. Figure I'll secondary for a month in that and then bottle and forget about until Nov/Dec next year.

Wee Heavy

Batch 2.75 gal
All Grain

Recipe Characteristics
Recipe Gravity 1.060 OG
Recipe Bitterness 32 IBU
Est Alcohol by Volume 6.0%
Recipe Color 19° SRM

Ingredients
Quantity Grain Type Use
5.00 lb Maris Otter Malt - [Nutty] Grain Mashed
1.00 lb Crystal 60L - [Body, Caramel, Head, Sweet] Grain Mashed
0.50 lb Melanoidin - [Aromatic, Malty] Grain Mashed
0.25 lb Special "B" (Belgian) Grain Mashed
3oz Cacao Nibs (secondary)
5oz Unsweetened Flaked Coconut (secondary)
London ESB Ale (Wyeast Labs #1968) Yeast-Ale (reharvest)

Caramelized .75 gal of the wort for 50 min and added back to boil

Quantity Hop Type Time
0.50 oz Northern Brewer (Germany) 60 minutes
0.25 oz Tettnanger (U.S.) 60 minutes
0.75 oz Tettnanger (U.S.) 20 minutes
Transferred this one today as well. I came up light on the volumes to start with (I look to have only 2 gallons after the transfer), and with the absorption I would expect from the coconut, this may be a small, small batch. Should be mighty tasty, so all is good. Didn't take a gravity reading, but will assume all is well on that front. Didn't harvest the house yeast, but this yeast has gone thru several brew days, so probably good to get some fresh for the next run.

I was planning to bottle the Hopsperiment/chinook yesterday, but I was too knackered when I got home from work, so I didn't. I'll do it this morning, though; shouldn't take too long, since I'm using mostly bombers.

Then I'm going to brew up a 2.5 gallon batch of Groomsman's Pride IPA. It'll be an easy brew day, since that's an extract/steeping grains recipe. And I'd like to take it easy today.

Bottled the Brown ESB I made using 2nd half of my Brown Ale partial mash. It was a PITA, hops clogged my spigot, so had to whip out and sanitize my mini-auto-siphon to get out most of the beer. Thankfully I have one.

Note to any new brewers here - it's always worth having an auto-siphon even if you think you will be using a spigot.

^^^^^ This ^^^^^

It's well worth it!

I have four...

Two longer ones (one new and one older for sours) for my 5 gallon carboy,

And

Two short ones (one new and one older for sours) for my LBK's and 4 gallon boil pot.

Not that type of camper, I would need to spend 3 times what the camper cost for the truck I would need to tow it with :( ! It is 38' replacing a 2000 38', and it will stay parked at the campground we have belonged to for close to 20 years now.

Saturday I bottled a Uncle Sam's Imperial Brown Ale 1G ag recipe. Basically a brown ale with a little more abv. They had included some oak chips to be soaked and then added after a week or so but I passed on that. The sample tasted good so I guess we'll see in a few weeks.
