Just for grins and giggles I pulled up this site to see the long range forecast for Nashville (and where I live)....and while I have NO faith in it at all and believe it must be nothing other than historical averages etc, I thought it would be fun to follow between now and then (and also to see what I need to bring as far as clothes for the trip).

Take a look at the long range forecast here....you have to continue to click to the right for it to go out that far but it actually goes out thru mid/late Feb.

NOTE: It currently shows highs near 40 and lows in the 20s with a day or two of rain and snow on Superbowl morning (wouldn't THAT be fun?) I'll be curious to see how this looks in a few weeks and see just how off they are.

Between work and personal commitments there is just no way I'm going to make it. I can't even imagine the amount of fun that is going to be had and the amount of beers that will be consumed... All I can say is, "Pictures or it didn't happen!".

On another note, two tap jockey box showed up in UPS today, stopped and got ball locks, hose and fittings at LHBS. Are we going to have a need for me to bring?????

I'm not so sure you'll need to bring it. I think all the beer that is being brought will be in bottles.

Just planning ahead so Ron can make it next time (next year or two maybe?).....check out these places and see number 30......Bend OR.....26 Breweries? Maybe we can do this in a few years?

My sister lives in Portland and we've been up there a few times, ALL thru Or and there's TONS TONS TONS of breweries and great beer, good food and B E A U T I F U L scenery....and a few strange folk

Thanks for the notes guys. I'm bummed, but I knew this was a real possibility. Even with everybody that is going, it is nice to know I'll be missed.
I'm sure a few beers in, I'll be long since forgotten though - in fact, I expect it!

What I can tell you is that those of you that like Pale Ales should make sure to try or take home some of the Thunder Ann Pale Ale from Jackalope in Nshville. Swen and I traded a few beers recently and this was one of them. It's yummy. Unfiltered and a beautiful hazy orange hue. Wonderfully tropical on the nose and slightly biscuity on the finish. I'm on a Pale Ale kick right now and this was a great one.

Exactly the reason I'm bringing an extra suitcase and SW lets you take one for free. I'm hoping to take home a few local beers to enjoy long after this wonderful event is over.

Oh, believe me that trying 16 different Jackalope beers is on the agenda either Friday or Saturday night... Glad to hear you liked it. I worked on the canning line the day that can was born, so I like to think that my gentle caress and loving attention made all the difference in that batch. That brewery had a rough start (IMHO they opened too soon and were essentially on homebrewing equipment for a while, they were wildly inconsistent for the first year or so trying to settle in on the new equipment, and they had some butterscotch issues for a while), but they've really come into their own over the last year and have made consistently good beers. The Thunder Ann is a solid pale, and I'm really fond of their gose. The brown is fine, as is the red. The IPAs have been hit or miss for my taste, but a lot of people really like them. I'm really curious to try their sour and some of the barrel aged beers they have going right now (hope they are still on tap in a few weeks).

Oh, and as to getting local beers to take home, Yazoo sells by the case or bomber at the brewery, but any other ones you'll have to get at a beer or wine store. I can certainly point us in the direction of a great bottle shop near the action...

Oh, did I mention that it's the first female run brewery in the southeast? Girls that brew kick ass, IMHO...

Sorry to get here so late. Ron you will be truly missed. I'm sure more than one toast will be made in your name and it might even be with a pale beer.
