There's a bottom to the slope?
Yup, I keep hitting it, only to bounce halfway back up to slide down again. There are advantages to being... bouncy.

Maybe it's just me, but I've tried to go back there but I just can't find my way around on the new format. I can't see a way I can go to my profile and look up old posts. Before the forum took the big dump I had a good exchange with Beerlord on a brew that we have both done called Hophead Double IPA, I'm going to brew it again and we had a good talk about it, but I can't find it. The place just ain't user friendly anymore, they made it that way, nobodies going there anymore because of it except for someone just starting out with MB, and I don't believe they will stay there long either. Yes it is dead..............RIP
Edit: Probably the last post for me on the MB site and believe me I enjoyed going there.

I rejoined this forum the next day

I went back yesterday for s n gs to see how it was going, and it's not. There was one newbie and 2 of the older guys posting, bout it. Truly is a ghost town. I feel sorry for the newbies that will show after Christmas, I will probably post this place there again and get banned since I have had my *only* warning from them about it. And I'm willing to bet Peter and the rest still don't give a cwap about it.

I think it's time for me to start venturing outside Mr.BEER although I love the assortment of recipes. Brew Demon/LHBS will be my next venture as I'm on my 7th brew now and itching to steep.
We're glad you got here in time Jeff and followed us over. We have your back however you decide to brew. But watch it at the top of the slide. This group has no problem pushing someone down the brew slope.

Case in point. I'd been following this merry band of fools (aka The Borg) and brewing MrBeer for about 6 months. Someone (DRabbit) started a Borg Brew, one recipe agreed upon by the Borg, but laid out for all style brewers. Straight up MrBeer, MrBeer and a steep, LME/DME and All Grain. Well with confidence they gave me I did my first AG 2.5 gallon BIAB. After 4 of those I stepped it up to 5 gallon batches, entering competitions and mailing beer.

Like I said, it's a downhill slope and this is my support group, but at least there's beer at the end.
It's because of people like you that I'm in this fix Jeffrey!
You were the first to really reach out to me showing me the true spirit of the BORG, and for that I will never forgive....er... I mean forget you. :)

Thanks! Long live the :borg:

The Bed Bath and Beyond stores around here don't seem to be carrying MrB anymore. They got some other kit, and it ain't Brewdemon, either.

It's Brooklyn beer making kit. Seems to have a small glass carboy type fermenter. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/s ... r%20making

I almost ordered a 4 craft refill when the 30% off was on last week, but my pipeline of AG is now very big ... I can't keep making more beer ... I have to shut down the fermenters for a bit.
I have 6 5gal cornys full, another 5 gal fermenter going that I'll have to bottle, and about three cases of bottled homebrew. I made more than EVEN I can drink.
Guess I'll have a party after New Years, and knock out one of two of these kegs.

The manager from my local BB&B said 90% of the Mr. Beer stuff only sold after christmas.

Yah, I also got 1 1/2 50lb sacks of two row, 10lbs of marris otter, and a big variety of hops and specialty grains on hand.
I won't have to shop for a while. Especially since I really need to cut my production rate in half. I've been brewing 4 5gallon batches per month,
and it really is too much ... especially since I've been drinking it, and now can not get into any of my pants.

I will go on a diet for a few weeks after new years, then morph into a rate of two 5 gal batches per month ... which is only a case per week. If that's not enough, I can
do some LBK batches in between ... hme treats, if you will.

I guess I'm going to become a brew demon customer soon, then. I've noticed that their smaller selection of hme's includes my THREE FAVORITES ... Sticky Wickett, American Devil IPA, and Pilothouse Pilsner.
That's nice.

The winter seasonal at MrB was the first seasonal ever that I didn't buy. But, I was honest with myself and thought, "I'm just not into spice".

I still just started drinking the summer one (Saison) and the winter (brown) is in the pipeline ... both bottled.

I just went to MrB discussion forum ... you got my curiosity. You're right, it's dead. Stick a fork in it at this point.

I wonder how their sales are doing. Losing retail outlets ... no forum (although the forum never really drove sales, I don't think) .... They can't be having a good year, but maybe they are.

Mr. Beer screwed the pooch with the new format. Unless their intention was to run off all the old timers. Then it was a huge success. :fedora:

I'm seeing Mr Beer stuff consistently at BJ's Wholesale Club if you have one near you. Basic kit, three pack refill kit, root beer kit.

I saw the kits at Targets in NW Indiana. I may have to go there instead of BB&B on the 26th.

I actually broke down and ordered from Mr. Beer earlier in the week. I think they screwed up; I checked out the store one morning and they had the seasonal 4 pack at 30% off AND had it stacked with a the 30% sale discount making a seasonal 4 pack $40. I refreshed a couple of times and decided To get two - 8 seasonal cans at $10 each struck me as a pretty good deal. I thought the Summer Saison was quite good, i like spiced ales and nut browns too. i guess I'll just have to doctor up, the Spring Seasonals. Within an hour of ordering they had removed one of the two 30% discounts from the website...

Looks like they will be delivered on Monday. I was getting away from HME's and only have a few left but couldn't resist...

Yeah, I picked up a couple of those packs at a 50% discount, (30% off + 20% coupon) - they are worth it at that price. The spring seasonal makes good 5 gallon batches of saison with some DME + candi sugar + noble hops. (I did it, I know, that's where my 2 cans of that are being used next summer).
