I heard only 2 inches fell but we all know that size doesn't matter! But, you look like you got more than that. But it was the ice that did us all in.

I'll admit, when I was young, I spelled my name in the snow using you know what. Lucky for me, my first name is only 4 letters.

Just read this on the HBT forum and am glad I'm in a warm house-----
I just finished one of the longest nights of my life. I live on the northside of Atlanta and work in the Buckhead financial district - 35 miles from home. I just took me 14 hours to get home. I'm one of the lucky ones, I have friends that slept in cars, home depots, drug stores and their cars. I pray for the rest of the HBT members in the Atlanta metro.

I already posted this, but apparently got the "Yo, idiot, someone posted while you were typing" message and didn't notice it, so I have to retype it again... I hate that "feature".

Anyway, watching HLN this morning (it's not the HLN it was years ago), I smiled hearing how in Atlanta they abandoned cars, slept in Home Depots, etc. Back in 1995 my wife and I were in Atlanta (we lived in lake-effect snow country in PA at the time) and they closed everything for a coating of ice. No staff in hotel, barely got breakfast. We went to the mall, most of the stores were closed. We were on the street that HLN was filming on when a garbage truck slid down the hill sideways taking out cars along the way. Very funny (no one got hurt).

It's crazy how people freak on bad weather, but the reality is that most people are awful drivers in good weather, and it just comes out more in bad weather. No matter where we live, every weather event brings out the idiots to clean out the grocery store, buy the snow shovel they apparently didn't yet own, buy generators they don't know how to run or hookup to their homes, and TV reporters that are dumber than all of us (Dan Rather hanging on the pole in a hurricane comes to mind, as does Al Roker blowing over...).

Be safe everyone, and stay away from the crazies.

When this happens to me Rick, I just click submit and it goes on through. No retyping required.

Actually, there is, if you don't read the message, assume it went through, and click on to the next thing...

Roads were icy this morning on my way to the "real job" here in Pensacola, but nothing that was cause for alarm. Though I wish the people (who can't drive in good weather) who are just out to site see would stay at home if they have no need to be out. All they do is cause more harm than anything just to see what's going on for them selves.

I was stopped this morning by police at an overpass near our home as it was closed due to icing I assume. They asked what I was doing and I explained just as they did, I too have to work on this "snow day". They chuckled and just told me to be safe and watch out for idiots. Their words not mine, though I agreed

Ah Ha, the good ole "I'm so highly trained I don't have to think before I act" syndrome. Guilty of that one myself, but not very often.

I went to my office, only 8 minutes away, and the streets were more crowded than I expected. Many restaurants are open but for the most part, people are still staying away.
My office front steps had about 1/2" of ice on them and I was sliding on it. No customers today, very little email and no voice mail so there was no use in me staying even if I wanted to. But of course, I didn't.

I am bored. Daytime TV sucks but I just got word that the gym is open so I'm going to visit it for an hour.

I heard someone ask the mayor of Atlanta how do they move so many cars from the interstate system and he said, "one at a time". :o

Stay warm my borg friends and drive safely when you have to drive...may our Arizona temps move into your area soon and thaw all of you out. I am getting old, this Texas weather is a little brisk for my warm thinned out blood. May a beautiful Spring be right around the corner.

This stuff is moving out of Pensacola with the quickness. Supposed to be in the lower 70's on Saturday ... Which is nice since we are brewing that day :D

Holy Cow! What is that thing? I've owned cars with spare tires bigger than that.
