That's a really nice, um, "yeast stick" you've got there.
Now as to the yeast stick, in short ) one must understand that while creating "beer" was occurring terms like beer, yeast, fermentation or alcohol, as relates to the beverage of the particular time period did not exist as we know it. As American Indians learned to place a dead fish next to their corn and squash plants in order for them to thrive the ancients ( believed to have originated with the ancient Sumerians ala women being in charge of the brewing.... the yeast stick was quite simply a stick used to stir things, in this case what will end up as beer. The grooves will have collected trub (they didn't know any better at the time) and the yeast on the stick "went dormant" (they didn't know any better at the time) until the next "brew day".evily wrote:That's a really nice, um, "yeast stick" you've got there.

I was just offering an historical and symbolical idea when some of the verbiage attracted attention and went awry in an attempt at humor.
I was simply into history and symbolism for a beer related wedding and still am.
Yeast Sticks, casks and bungs real are and I intended in my posts for the idea to be true to brewing history.
Hope I was not the one offensive.
