Re: Fresh Squeezed IPA Clone
I'm glad that it went well. Sounds like a great day and I can almost smell it from here.
I'm very excited about this batch.....<taps fingers impatiently>

Sounds so good. Too many recipes to make, not enough time to do it.

Re: Fresh Squeezed IPA Clone
Ron, have you had an official taste of this yet? Ours is nearing the dry hop stage so it'll be a long while before it's taste time but I'm very curious if you've had the royal cup yet.

Not yet. Sadly, my household has been sick since last Friday so I'm just getting back on my feet now.
Hopefully tomorrow!

OK Ron, I don't like the game you're playing.....it's been 12 hours since I posted and still no reports on your Fresh Squeezed so I can only assume it sucks to bad, you don't want to talk about it.
That and the fact that the 49ers will feel some DOME-INATION today.

Re: Fresh Squeezed IPA Clone
Well, I figured out that I still don't have 100% of my taste buds by tasting something else, but I had to try this last night.
Color-wises, it's got that nice darker orange color that Fresh Squeezed has. The aroma was a little light at first but:
1) I realized the beer was too cold (need to readjust my beer fridge after moving it)
2) As mentioned, my nose is still a but stuffy
The aroma seemed pretty spot on me, and as it warmed up it got even better. The carb level was a little low, but the bottle I tried barely had two weeks to carb before I put it in the fridge. It was there for a week since I got sick so the others have had an extra week now to carb up so they should be better.
The taste was good - nice hop flavor and a crisp finish, at first. I think because it was cold the finish was a bit 'clean' or it could be because of the use of Magnum (my error) instead of Nugget for bittering. Again, as it warmed it got better. But to be honest, I was so happy to have a beer that this drank pretty quickly
I think it's going to be very close. I'll try to get my hands on the original again soon but so far I'm very happy with what I tasted last night. I'm going to put another in the fridge today to drink on Tuesday and will post more then.

Re: Fresh Squeezed IPA Clone
Thanks for the update. I should be kegging my version and RedBEERd's next weekend so it'll be a while before I can give you my thoughts.
It looks good to me but I agree, 2 weeks is early and it's still green.

Yeah, a bit green and my tastes are off but even with that in mind I did like this one and think it's going to be really good. I can tell you that last night's went down pretty easy.
Damn close game so far. Not sure why we can't catch the ball so well today.Beer-lord wrote:That and the fact that the 49ers will feel some DOME-INATION today.
