Well, I'll reinforce what I said earlier, especially in light of recent posts. I'm pretty much absorbed with rebuilding my pipeline and using up a glut of HME's that aged too much while I was sidelined for many months. However, I would be very happy to help introduce a new brewer to any progression they may be ready for. It seems we don't have a big supply of such folks at the moment, and I certainly don't feel any more qualified than anyone else here to help in that capacity, by a long shot. Again, I'm just saying, I would be honored to serve in that respect if the need is there. Always happy to pay forward some of the wonderful of experience I've received from this great group.

every body who said they'd work with any level, already said that. probably why there's not a lot of folks speaking up. just waitin' for the Hat to draw names.

I'm one who's willing to work with any level, but yes, I did already say that.

Seems like we've grown past the growth stock stage and are into the commodity stage now. In a strange way, I think I actually miss the intense learning process, which is so gratifying from both sides of the fence. I loved being the student and loved being the teacher. I just love the whole process. I feel like we're a school with ten times as many teachers as students now. It's great to have the friendship, without a doubt. But am I crazy for missing the intense learning as well? Does anyone crave that also? I certainly wouldn't overlook the possibility that I'm just nuts. Happens to me all the time.

Your right and that's why some of us have returned to MrB. I also think that's the main reason we participate in these RCEs to recapture that feeling you had while learning to brew.
Possibility your nuts? Is there some doubt?

Honestly, no. Never really even doubted it myself.

Well, Joe, I know I missed the "learning" and "discovery" aspect. But I'm sort of getting my fix to a lesser extent with my new kegging experiences, but mostly with my decision to make 2015 the year I investigate new styles I haven't tried before. I've got a Scottish 60 shilling carbing/conditioning, and a weizen fermenting, and I'm eager to see how they turn out, and what I think of them. In a couple of weeks, I'm going to brew a rye IPA, and I really am looking forward to tasting that.

The BJCP style guidelines are available online, and they're a great help in researching new styles.

As a PS, the drawing and posting of RCE pairings is Sunday, 2/8, so if you haven't signed up yet, get off yer butt and sign up!

Dave, you have a great attitude. Your words somehow hit the mark. I realize I'm in a brewing rut and need to work through it. Some of it's out of my control, but not all. Not sure yet exactly what's next, but I'll figure it out. I think the process of burning through too many old HME's after being sidelined a long time has a lot to do with it. Thanks for planting the seed with your personal examples. It's like you identified specifically what I was feeling vaguely. You're a good man to have around.
