First Time Kegging Question

I bought a growler filler from my LHBS. It's just a tube with a fitting on one end that has rubber gaskets. You cram that end into the tap, and the tube is essentially the same as a bottling wand, without the spring-loaded tip.

Now I know that the purpose of a growler is totally different than the purpose of bottling, but I wonder if it wouldn't work the same way anyway....

I'll have to ask at the store next time I go.
