I finally had time to take a picture of of my new tap handles after filling a pint of my latest AIBA style beer. I love being a two tapper!

What is that in the handles? One on the right looks like coffee beans but the one on the left? Those are definitely different handles, no doubt.

The darker one on the right is filled with roasted malts and the lighter one on the left is filled with a mix of light and medium colored grains. I'm serving a AIDA and a Cali Common now.

Yes, and all of these years I never knew White Labs offered rewards if you mail them the used labels. I have about 50 vials saved, I'm just a saver at heart, and had no idea the vials were worth more than for storing washed yeast. Check out their White Labs Customer Club if you haven't already to see what you can get.

Nice tap handles Vince!

I also like the recipe you shared for your version.

There certainly are multiple ways to get to the same place here...

I have not yet tried Caraffa III for this type of brew so I might give ot a go next time.

Mine may not be black enough, but I am familiar with the Midnight Wheat and what it brings so that's why I added the roast from the Roasted Barley and the bit of Chocolate Malt.

Not sure how mine will turn out but I can say that it is fermenting away nicely and the blowoff vessel smells delightfully hoppy yet there is a slght roasty malt aroma as well.

Ok, so I kegged this one today...

Seems my attenuation was not what I had anticipated as it finished at 1.020 instead of 1.015 ish.

It was also not as dark as I hoped and it seemed a bit cloudy... Time and cold should help there...

Guess it's less of a Cascadian Dark and more of a hoppy brown ale...

Hard to tell from the hydro sample if the hop profile was what I was hoping for either...

All in all, perplexing...

Will let it cold carbonate for a week or more and try it again.

Stay tuned...
