after reading the borg....
I started boiling 1cup of water w/ 2/3 cups of sugar (if memory serves me) to be a much better way to carbonate equally when bottling. UNFORTUNATELY, I learned that if you let the water boil out when drinking on bottling night, you must wash the sugar residue from the pan. BOOM! Lesson learned.
