Well, beer I got; no worries there.

We have enough TP for a family of three to tough it out for the weekend.

We have a lot of bread in the chest freezer downstairs.

We have around a gallon of milk, but we might need to supplement that tomorrow, even if it's only a half gallon (my son drinks milk like crazy; he must have bones the density of tungsten steel).

We have a dozen eggs in the fridge.

We have plenty of cat food, so Duncan will be well-cared-for.

We won't resort to any Donner Party shenanigans, I'm sure. Sadly, my plans to make a 12-egg omelette will have to wait.

When I was younger and had the metabolism of a gnat, I used to make 6 egg omelets almost every morning. They probably also included lots of bacon and cheese.

Now, when I make an omelet, it's with two egg whites or one egg and one egg white and lots of vegetables.

Sigh.

On Wednesday DC was shut down after getting an inch and a half of snow and now their forecast is calling for 2-3 feet! NC is in a state of emergency, they have no road salt, go figure? In NJ we're looking at 50-60 mph gusts with a possible 12-18 inch accumulation. I'm more concerned with power outages than the snow, we get bored easily with no TV or internet access, but heat and light won't be an issue at all.

It looks like we'll dodge the bullet here in New England. Earlier this week, the prediction was for possibly up to a foot of snow -- now they're saying possibly a flurry w/ no accumulation.
It's January 22 and I'm still looking at grass. That is unprecedented. I know it won't last, but to make it this long without snow cover is wonderful -- and a great relief from the past two years. Especially last year, when we got hit with record amounts of snow.

I was hoping it would go away but it won't. I just noticed today as well that I live smack in the middle of the heaviest area of where the snow is going to hit. 2'+ of snow is about to dump down on me!! I moved from the Northeast to get away from this bulls$$t! Looks like another move is in the near future where snow storms this size can't sneak up on me again!

They were saying on the news that Roanoke was almost the bullseye and DC is expecting over 40 inches of snow!!!
:wow:
The power outage is going to be the bad part of this the news this morning was saying that outages could possibly last into next week sometime!

I'm just preparing for the rain that is already here and coming this afternoon, too. The other day we got an inch per hour for a while and that's what they are calling for again.

I have beer and guns. I''m good.

Be safe all.

Luckily I didn't hit that wednesday madness on my way into work but some of my friends and coworkers did. I've stocked up on some essentials but mainly that being wood in case power outage. I have a fireplace so I will make use if needed. I have LOTS of beer to drink, about 11 gallons I would say and a few bottles of scotch, a bottle of tequila and a bottle of vodka. I think I'm all set in the alcohol department. Food wise I have lots and should be good. The SO is really good at coming up with recipes based on what is in the house if we run out of the basics. Also got one of my propane tanks filled in case I need grill/burner. All in all I think it won't be too bad. Worst part will be waiting for roads to be plowed so we can get out.

I now have been following this storm [didnt even know it was coming] and it looks like a bad one, especially in the mid-east coast area. That area isn't really prepared for them kind of storms or the everyday driving public either like we are in the Great Lakes region and it would be major here too for us.
Everyone stay safe and try not to be on the roads until this is over and cleaned up.

8-12 tonight with another 3-5 tomorrow and I have to work...."Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of nigh... blah, blah, blah". I just hope we don't lose power. Been there, done that. That is when inconvenience turns into suck.
