It has been a busy couple of weeks for me, now that the functionality of ezRecipe-RO has been locked down my focus has shifted to support. There were plenty of little items that had to be addressed, things like logo design, shortcut and favicon icon creation and several web hosting enhancements to go along with it all. Not to mention documenting the features of ezRecipe-RO too, something I unfortunately have had little time to do as yet.

The testing I need some help with is really about what to do with the recipe once it has been created in ezRecipe-RO? My first thoughts were to include a 'Save' button that would display the recipe information so it could be printed out for reference in the future or sent electronically. Another thought was to create an ingredient list of grains, hops, yeast, etc. that could be printed out or emailed to your LHBS.

If you have any suggestions, as to what functionality you would like to have added to ezRecipe-RO, I would really like hearing from you and any thoughts or ideas you may wish to share.

I'll say again how much I appreciate your efforts with this program and I only wish I could have helped more. I'll do what I can as I brew every 3-4 weeks and share my thoughts.

How close are you to making a login needed for use and can you share what you will charge for using this program?

About the only thing (now) I can think of adding to help the newbie is maybe some links to water additions, what they do and how they affect brewing. It's certainly not needed but maybe somewhere within the instructions you can post those links.

Thanks Paul you have been very helpful already, especially so because of your brewing and water properties experience. The help pages are a must for brewers who may be new to including water properties in their recipe design.

The login page is currently under development and going through unit testing now. It and a custom domain name for ezRecipe-RO should be available for beta testing in early October.

An 'embeddable' version of ezRecipe-RO is currently under way too. When released it will allow ezRecipe-RO to be easily embedded into other websites, blogs and forums...more to come on that.

Today I'm brewing a Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout clone, courtesy of the AHA website. It's a modified version our club is brewing for a 55 gallon barrel fill next month. I used the latest version of ezRecipe-RO to create a matching water profile.

If anyone wants to use ezRecipe-RO for their brewing water profiles you can use the link below.

What're planning to brew Paul? It took a while to get things working the way I had planned. But it was worth it. The drop downs are all dynamic now. When you add or modify entries on the water profile, grain or hop pages those changes are shown in the main recipe page now.

Enjoy your brew day, I know that's something we both enjoy. :clink:

Version 1.05 has just been released. In this version there are the following feature improvements. Be sure to delete your browser cache before accessing the latest ezRecipe-RO updates.

The recipe date field has been fixed, you can update the date now

The Hop Addition section has been updated. You can now select from three different hop usage types 'Boil", 'Dry' and 'Whirl'
Whirl is short for Whirlpool hop addition. Utilization has been optimized for whirlpooling to begin at flameout [212F] down to 175F.

The calculations now predict total IBUs based on hop utilization, using the average specific gravity of the recipe

There is a new Notes page with two sections where you can enter Brewing Notes and Recipe Notes.

Your recipe selections are saved and will be reloaded when you login again.

Enjoy. Remember to clear your browser's cache before logging in, and thank you for using ezRecipe-RO.
