Hey Borgafanilli's, Was walking through the beer store today and a Genny Cream Assortment 12 pk caught my eye. Back in the day I liked
Genny cream ale,so I thought I'd give it a try. First was an Imperial Cream Ale. 7% ABV. Hopped with Hercules and Apollo hops. At 19 IBU's I thought it would be tasty,never having had those hops. Too bitter for my taste. 2nd was the Orange Honey Cream Ale @ 6% ABV and 11 IBU's.It was okay with an end that was sort of like an orange creamsicle. 3rd was the Dry Hopped Mosiac Cream Ale w/ Mosiac,Hercules,Apollo hops. It came in at 6.4% ABV and 16 IBU's. This was the best of the 3.Well I can say that while they are drinkable,they certainly won't be gracing my fridge again. I really enjoyed Genny's Ruby Red Kolsch(grapefruit ) and their Bock beers,but these weren't in my wheelhouse. Cheers.

On the last day of CBC, my liver definitely needs a rest. Let's see...

Did a couple yeast collabs on the CBC specialty brew list at Rock Bottom, including the Jasper Yeast Project: Single Hop Belgian-Style Blonde Ale and a Passionfruit gose made with Bootleg Biology Lacto Plantarum yeast...



Followed that with a Beer and Donut pairing hosted by Ballast Point at the Donut + Dog. I opted for the Dirty Churro (cinnamon, sugar, oreo crumble, espresso reduction) paired with Ballast Point Mocha Marlin porter...



Then Indiana's Mad Anthony Auburn Ale...



... and Texas' Real Ale Brewing Axis IPA...



After several days of this dating back to Saturday, I might need to take a beer break. But with 100 more bottles in the house, that might not happen...

Oh, and here's the 2018 winners (https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/worl ... s-List.pdf). I can finally celebrate that Nashville Brewing Company's Nashville Lager won silver in the Helles category, and Nashville's Fat Bottom also won two medals. Whoo-hoo!

Well, CBC is done. There are a few events today, but none for me. But I am off work today, so let's try the beers from the Bootleg and Southyeast experiment. I thought Id be done with beer after the last 6 days, but here we go...



This is the basic lager recipe done with the Bootleg S.Arlingtonesis that we all took home from the tour. Bready, solid little bitter to style. Beer totally rocks to style for a pale lager. S.Arlingtonesis may become my go-to lager yeast.



Same recipe with the Southyeast Labs HS2 Belgian Ale yeast. Damn if that doesn't taste like a quality belgian blonde. Spot on, if I do say so myself. Pretty damn happy with both of these. Now to finally brew the same recipe with the new Brulosophy blend. Might have to start on the starter for that today...

I have enough of this yeast left for a small lager (yes, Beer-lord is starting to do lagers). Also have the Bru yeast from Bootleg/Brulosophy that I tried in a pale and should know about that in the next few days.
I'm going to try to see if my LHBS will work with Jeff and the gang and stock some here since for almost half the year its too hot to ship here even with ice packs. Just can't trust it sitting in a hot truck for a day or two.

What temps did you ferment yours in and what did you do for the D rest?

Fermenting was around 48-52, raised to 68-70 for a few days for a d-rest, then cold crashed for a few days prior to bottling.

Hey Borgaloonies, Had 2 first pours last evening. 1st was a Saison hopped with Nelson hops. Tasted like wine with grapefruit overtones. Tasty,but nuttin over the top. 2nd was a Farmhouse ale hopped with Simcoe hops. Tastes like citrus with a hint of pine.Again nothing too profound. Both just solid "Summertime Bev-Rahgez! Cheers

Last night I tried a new Session IPA from a local brewery that loves their hoppy beers.
This one missed the mark. There are hops in it, but this beer is SO thin that it's completely unsatisfying.
