Yummy Kölsch of the not Band-Aids roasting on a dumster fire variety. Also words of wisdom from Julie Elliot (a most awesome UK cyclist).

The bottles that are good are absolutely fantastic and I love it and would make it again.

The bottles that are bad are absolutely horrifying and taste like band-aids roasting on a dumpster fire.

I haven't figured out if it was a fermenter infection issue with one of the 2 fermenters yet, or if I somehow didn't sanitize some bottles, or if I didn't wash a bleach bomb cleaning out of some bottles well enough sometime in the past or ???

I've never gotten an infection like this if it was an infection. Whatever it is sucks.

I unfortunately don't know which are which because it all got mixed together in a big box, so I just have to keep throwing them in the fridge and either loving what I pour, or dumping it as quickly as possible.
I'm going by memory, so I could be wrong, but I seem to recall bandaid flavor is from bleach/chlorine

Edited to fix autocorrect changing seem to recall to swim to recall

Mash, Not sure what your issues you are having with that beer and sure you will figure it out, but looks good. I want to get some Kölsch glass like that. My favorite style. Looks good.
Edit: not smoked, never tried, just the Plain Kölsch. have one now in cold crash and will keg about Thursday.

Firestone Walker Santa Lucia IPA. It's kind of like a combo of Luponic Distortion and Union Jack, with the best of both brought forward.

It may very well be this. I did bleach bomb some bottles a while back and maybe didn't rinse some of them well enough or something. I've only opened 2 bottles that I had to dump, the other 4 so far 3 have been great, and the other one although it had a tiny bit of the band-aid flavor, it wasn't enough to make me want to dump it, it was very much in the background IE more of a "competition fault" level.
not smoked, never tried, just the Plain Kölsch. have one now in cold crash and will keg about Thursday.
This was just me substituting "Oak Smoked Wheat" for the small amount of regular wheat I'd throw into a Kolsch. The oak smoked wheat is very mellow, it is NOT AT ALL like a Rauchbier or something like that.

Just put my kolsch to keg yesterday... a favorite style of mine as well. Not sure I've seen smoked wheat available in the LHBS. Interesting... I need to check into that.

I'm enjoying a Fir Tip Honey Amber Ale on tap this week. Brewed using organically grown Concolor Fir tips and locally sourced honey.

It is very different then other smoked malts, it's more sweet and mellow. I do not like Rauchbier, but I liked beer where I used 60% Oak Smoked Wheat. In theory you can make beer with a 100% grain bill of the stuff (Gratzer). I didn't push mine that far since I was afraid I'd hate it, but I loved the beer with 60% of it and 40% pilsner.

The Weyermann version is a bit mellower and smoother then Viking Malts version. But both are good.

It's brewday, so why not a morning first taste of the kolsch-ish beer that went to keg last weekend. Kolsch yeast and recipe, but cascade hop. Digging it. Nice light ale with enough bitter and hop juicyness. Should be good for the BMC folks at our party in April...Image

First pour of a Kolsch that was kegged one week ago. Not bad but I think will be better in another week.

I had this the other night. Single-hopped IPA using Eureka.

I get notes of black cherry/currant and some pine. It's really good because it wasn't an over-the-top execution in terms of the hops.

Not sure why we only get a few Burial beers every now and then but even at $2.99 for a 12 oz can, this is very enjoyable.
