Just bottled my first batch from BDC. The trub did reach the spigot, it took a second to start filling the first bottle, and probably sucked a little into all the bottles. Cold crashing might solve this. On the other hand, no beer was left in the fermenter, as the trub filled the bottom of the cone. It was quite easy to bottle. I do wonder a bit about the liner in the lid and sanitation. As others have said, the height can be a factor in chilling, or even using. It is easier to clean than an LBK, and still allows you to watch the fermentation. It's large surface area helps keep it cool. I fixed the vent cap problem by cutting a slit in the cap.
Overall, I'm happy with it.

I stopped using the liner since I'm not using an airlock. It was just an unnecessary extra thing to mess with. I don't care if a bit vents out the lid too, I've got no fear of beer infecting bugs crawling up under it (they can't).John Sand wrote:Just bottled my first batch from BDC.
