All my favorite hops. I do think the Vienna is going to make it stand up a bit more and balance it out since it's got less pale malt.
I'm brewing tomorrow where it will almost be 80. Even for us that's odd this time of year. Gonna try another brew day before the end of the year.
I tried my latest version of this last night and I swear, if I could turn back time, I'd not have used the gelatin. It's still not clear, tastes just ok and I think it still needs time which is the opposite of why I made it. It should be enjoyed fresh. But, I applaud you for making a tasty version of something you like.
Have you finished the first one you made? If not, how is it tasting now?

Yea....my first one is long gone. BUT, I did find one last bottle of your first version in the fridge last night. It lost a ton, it almost wasn't even the same beer. Still good, just not nearly as much flavor and aroma.

I bow my head for a moment of silence to the hops that gave their all, but not enough.

Well, to fix the lackluster-ness of this beer now that gelatin has stolen part of it's soul, I added nearly 2 oz of hops in the keg to resurrect it.
That'll give it some nose and fool me into believing its the beer that I expected.

Went to the store today to pick up the ingredients and they only had 2 ouces of Amarillo. I needed 5 ounces. So I grabbed the 2 they had and grabbed 3 ounces of Citra. So the dry hop will be all Citra and there will be a .25 ounce of it in the steep. Should still be good!!

Wow, barely 24 hours after adding some hops to the keg and I can now live with this beer. It's very enjoyable and I'm thinking this (sans gelatin) could be my house IPA.

House IPA? That's a strong endorsement, I'm gonna have to put this on my to brew list.

Make huge note on the recipe NOT to use gelatin.

Just pitched the yeast. OG came in low. Should have been 1.047 and this came in at 1.042. I was looking for a sessionable IPA, but planned on about 5%. This will finish lower than that, probably in the low 4's. Not sure what happened. I stirred the mash only one time, usually I stir 2 or three times. That may have been the culprit. Was low on my mash temp by two degrees also. Planned on 152 and ended up at 150. Oh well, I wanted a session IPA and I got it!!!

In addition to only stirring once....there was a sign at the LHBS that said their mill was being finicky. Not sure what that means. I double crush normally, and did so this time also. But I wonder if the crush wasn't as it normally is? It looked like it normally does, but maybe there were more uncrushed grains this time.
