Homebrewed Hop Stoopid IPA clone recipe: calculated IBUs at 118 (7.1%ABV) with most coming from a first wort hop addition of whole leaf Magnum hops. First time I've done a first wort hop, it tastes great! Course it could be all the late additions of Cascade hops...

That's a fantastic looking beer. Also, I've become a big fan first wort hopping. It just makes the bittering so smooth, regardless of style.

Loving this season's batch. This is the beer that was fresh-hopped with the hops picked at the hop picking I attended.

Agreed... I may have to try this on a few other recipes and 'taste test' the difference.

Indeed. All kinds of fresh hopped goodness. Tastes as good as it looks. My payment for working the hop pick was four bombers (as well as a few pours at the taproom).

These hops were harvested from a back yard of a guy who grew them in the 20's. They had grown wild in the back yard of the family's home for generations until the grandson asked Linus if he had interest in them. They transplanted the plants to the Sulphur Creek Farm in Bell's Bend, and for the last three years have been used in this wet hopped pale. The first year was a small batch that was featured at a fundraiser at Bell's Bend. The next two years it has been bottled and kegged, with the profits going to the community farm effort. This article tells a bit about the efforts to save the farm, which is the drive behind the charitable donation resulting from this beer. Linus discussed with me this year that he may send the mystery hops off for analysis to figure out what they are, but he's torn because the "mystery" aspect is part of the fun of the beer.

Homebrew Patriot Lager.

What I called "India Pale Saison". IPA grain bill and it got infected by my house brett (Brett C I believe). It's a dry grapefruit and pinapple bomb with a touch of hay like earthiness.

It puts the fun in funk.

Sometimes it's good to have house brett. Unless you don't want it LOL. I just roll with it since it only happens in the summer and I'm brewing Belgians and Saisons then anyways, and I actually like the flavor it makes. I wish I could isolate it and use it on demand.

Mashani, that sounds like a great case of serendipity! Mmmmm pineapple.

Last night I had a Blue Moon, Pine in the Neck. For $4.59, it wasn't bad at all. Could have been hoppier but it was a decent IPA.

Had a Founders porter then a Spaten Octoberfest with some wings.

Man that sounds so good. I'm just having water, in order to keep from drinking the Triple D too quickly. Murican Wheat won't be bottled till next week. I think when I come back from MI, I'm gonna brew both Chocolate Brown Ale and Saint Sebastian Tripel.
