I feel like such a rookie...haven't brewed in my 5 gallon glass better bottle in over a year...forgot how to test my OG once i filled the bottle too close to the neck. So I just poured off a little into my measuring 4 cupper and then poured that into my hydro-tube. Came out at 1.032, was supposed to be 1.060. Couldn't think WHY??? So I pit another 12 oz of brown sugar to get it at least a little higher. THEN I realize since I wasn't able to get it mixed up very well after topping off. DUH???????? Churning and burning after 2 hours of pitching yeast. I feel so much like a goober rookie. That saddle didn't fit very well this time.

Bottled my Moosedrool clone, next up to brew is Irish Hills Red from Adventures in HomeBrewing, a malt forward red with notes of light caramel / toffee and toast, lightly hopped for balance. 5.2% ABV.

7.2 lbs pale lme
1 lb Crystal 120
8 oz Carapils
1 oz EKG at 60.
1 oz EKG at 5.
S-05 yeast.

I'm hopping I like this better than the Mackinac Island Red, this has twice the Crystal 120, and uses EKG (like Moosedrool) instead of Northern Brewer and Fuggle.

Speaking of AIH, they have some specials right now if you're into kegging including 3 gallon pin locks for $49 (used). I don't keg, but they seem to think it's a good deal.

I have a 2.5er of 100 Years War IPA (Centennial and Warrior hops) to bottle. That's for this afternoon.

And I'm taking a leap at brewing a cream ale this morning. This is my first attempt at the style, so I'm keeping it simple. I just want a good, crisp, quick beer out of it.

I just finished an easy brew. I'm thinking of calling it a Dirty Water Rye. I used a secondary mash wort from last weeks brew. Started with 1.028 wort, added 1.25# Amber DME, .25# DME .5 oz Columbus 20 minutes, .5 oz. Columbus 10 minutes, .5 oz. Citra 5 minutes, .5 oz. Northern Brewer 5 minutes... Yes, I was clearing house, but I think it will all work out with the rye wort. Not sure what style, but I don't care either. It's a 2.5 gal brew. Should be in the 4.5% - 5% range.

Finished my Cynthiana Old Ale brewday. Remembering why I have previously concluded that a hi-grav 5 gallon brew is not easily workable with my setup. I missed on a few things, but I still will have a tasty beer despite a few issues...
