Bottled my second batch of Bourbon Barrel Pale Ale yesterday and the FG sample tasted great!! I drank the first batch in about 2 weeks and this one may be better. Plus I am drinking a bit more Bourbon on the rocks as well.

When you say, "drinking Bourbon on the rocks" you mean you have a pile of gravel out in your yard or something and you're sitting on it while drinking your Bourbon neat. Right? You're not actually putting "stuff" into the glass with the Bourbon are you!?!!?!

Chuck N and I'm a Bourbon snob as well as a beer snob.

Actually I do most often drink it straight. I had never been much of a hard liquor fan and at first did drink over ice, but don't do that much any more.

My brother drinks his bourbon and his scotch :o on the rocks. Says the water actually brings out more of the flavor. I've tried it with scotch and have to say I heartily disagree. A lot of the "experts" say that I'm wrong and that you should splash some cold water into your scotch. I say that if adding water made the scotch taste better they would have added it at the distillery.

I don't (won't) add anything to a good bourbon...

And usually not to a good whiskey...

However, I DO FIND that adding just a few drops of cold water DOES 'open up' a good Scotch or Irish Whiskey...

The amount is really less than a spash... More like a few drops but it does something... It doesn't taste watered down at all... But it seems to be more aromatic and flavorful somehow...

Brewed up my first "BELGIAN ABBEY BIERE" this morning. Missed my calculated OG by a lot, not sure why. Maybe my scale is off, as I removed a fair portion of grain that was supposed to measured out by the LHBS. I added some extra Golden Candi syrup to the fermenter to compensate. We shall see how this turns out. Sample was a beautiful color, and smelled great so I hope this turns out well. Also, Thanks to Phil for the Belma hops!

Got an uber busy day today!
SO... it's 3:20 a.m., 67 outside and the humidity is down. I'm starting this in about 10 minutes!
A redux on a very tasty, IMHO, beer!

When this is done, nap time then ribs on the smoker! :jumpy:

15 minutes left in the boil of a Vienna Lager. After a few months of lagering this will be just in time for fall. :)

Remember to plan your beer brewing ahead for the upcoming seasons.

It's always IPA season isn't it? Actually, my next one will be an American Brown Ale...ready in time to watch Johnny and the Browns.

But do you have an outfit to go with that?
