Re: Nashville - An Open Invite to All
I'll plan to be around Friday afternoon, and I'm pretty near BNA. I could drive my wife's van that day and pick up at the aeropuerto if that helps. Otherwise I can hook up with you all sometime in the afternoon...

Thanks but you're already doing more than enough and we can survive a cab ride. As we get much closer, we'll lock some meet up times in stone. I can't promise I'll wait to have my first beer. ![happy :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

I will be getting in on Friday afternoon sometime. I MIGHT have to work half a day on Friday, so I'm not sure exactly what time yet. I will be driving in, so we will have a vehicle at our disposal. I wil do my best to get there by dinner time. At least we can all get together for some beers and food that evening.

Wife just said we'll be there Friday also, but I'll double check that. We'll be driving too, but I'm planning to let her have the vehicle while she's at Opryland.

Just to put out to the group a few things...
We are confirmed for a private Blackstone production brewery tour with Kent Taylor, the founder and owner of Blackstone Brewery, on Saturday at 3pm. Just to set the table a bit on Kent and Blackstone, they are the oldest active brewery in Nashville, and are truly the beginning of the craft beer movement in Nashville. Kent founded his brewery at a time that Nashville was a fizzy yellow beer town, and managed to survive and thrive to the point that they have grown into a 16,000 barrel capable production brewery that distributes regionally and contract brews for Schlafly. He's a great speaker and advocate for our local craft scene, and I'm thrilled that he volunteered to do this for us. As a side note... Their longtime brewmaster (who retired recently) is Dave Miller, who is right up there with Charlie Papazian as one of the longtime homebrew advocates and writers.
Also, we are pretty well confirmed on a private Yazoo tour as well (likely for Monday). Yazoo is the brewery responsible for the craft beer growth in Nashville, and the primary driver to changing beer laws in our favor in this state. They operate a 27,000+ barrel operation, which has grown exponentially over the last 10 years and distributes throughout TN and in parts of MS. I am also thrilled that they have offered to do this tour and tasting for us.
As of now, I think these are the two locked-in events we'll do, leaving us open to explore the other breweries, distilleries, and sights the rest of the time.

OK, just let me know if you need me. It's really not a big deal.Beer-lord wrote:Thanks but you're already doing more than enough and we can survive a cab ride. As we get much closer, we'll lock some meet up times in stone. I can't promise I'll wait to have my first beer.
Also, when you have that first beer, let me propose that you try a Gerst Amber, which is Nashville's original beer. First brewed before prohibition, it is now brewed by Yazoo. Or... if you'd rather go hoppy, try the Yazoo Hop Project!

Oh, you guys have no idea what you are up against. We shall bring the game full throttle. But you will have many years of things to laugh at us about later. Things you will tell your great grandchildren about. Am I hope the beers I've sent you will still be sitting there waiting for them to see if the fusels are all gone.Inkleg wrote:Yes, and it's not to late for Paul to bring someone else.RedBEERd wrote: I am not worty (see what I did there?)![]()
