"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."
Edgar Allan Poe

didn't find the anchor steam beer? california lager is a more traditional lager beer, not the california common hybrid. steam beer is the name of their california common, which they have trademarked.jimjohson wrote:research: fixin to brew a "steam beer" so i'm drinking an Anchor California Lager. not bad

Re: What are you drinking?
Was at the brewery, drinking from the first keg tapped from this afternoon's bottling/kegging of the 10 Year IPA. This is the second batch of this fine beer, but the first one that's been bottled. The 10-Year IPA is "a light-bodied India Pale Ale, brewed with lots of wheat and oats, and generously hopped with the relatively new varieties of Citra and Mosaic hops." I was able to snag a few low-fills off of the bottling line as payment for a very small task I helped with this afternoon, so that's pretty cool.
So... bottled on 12/6 around noon...
Drinking in the taproom on 12/6 around 4pm...
... and bottle in the mail to... somewhere on or around 12/7-12/9...

Making up for not getting to go to Winter Warmer this year (the best beer snob event in Nashville, for those not aware) by having my own beer fest while skimming football/basketball... First time in the Nashville market for these... Like the Sept I had better (thanks, Kealia!), but this one ain't half bad. Need to seek out the specs...

Sprecher Winter Brew. Love anything by Sprecher as they are from WI, my homeland. They also make great Root Beer.

Good judgment comes from experience, which comes from poor judgment.
Re: What are you drinking?
Drinking some 'mystery' beers from my collection of Novembeerfest entries; First a cider... Tastes like apple, kinda dry, slight sour note.

Tastes like a Cascade Dark Ale... Maybe with a bunch of rye malt, bunch of NW hops. I really like this one!

This an excellent example of the style; hope this one won an award! Don't forget the wheat beers.

Re: What are you drinking?
How was that Gose? I haven't had a Goze in a long time. I think I need one.
I've actually been considering brewing a Roggenbier/Gose hybrid. As in a Goze with Rye instead of Wheat. I think the spicy rye and the salt would go well together. I would do it as a sour mash or use acidulated malt though, I don't have the space/time to dedicate to doing it as a real sour. That's one of the reasons I think I'd like to do the hybrid, I think the rye will give it back some of the complexity it will miss from the sour shortcut. What you think? Want to collaborate LOL? I can toss the recipe I've been playing with up in a thread.
