Sorry but I've been around enough corporate buy outs to recognize a "taking the Golden Parachute" letter when I see one.

He will be happily rich in retirement and the bit about taking care of the employees and keeping everything just ducky is cookie cut out material.

Time will tell.

At least it's not a BMC company taking over. Plus, Duvel is a great Belgian brand, so (at least for the Belgian style ales in the lineup) they will be able to keep the quality up. One can only hope, anyway.

I have come to the conclusion that it sucks. Boulivard was a locally owned and operated craft brewery 60 miles from me. Now it is just another foriegn interest.

Phil I do really like Duval beer. I just dont like Boulivard being owned by them.

I understand, Roger. Having a local, family owned and operated craft brewery being bought out makes it feel like they're losing their pizzazz... their specialness... their craftness.

The good news - they won't screw up the beer. Ommegang still makes great beer.

The bad news - what you said, not independent local.

When I took the tour of Ommegang a few months ago they stressed that Duvel left them alone to run the company as they saw fit.

Banjo even if they do that, I still feel like something has been lost.
