I'm intrigued by my hard cider brew and I got to thinking; what other juices can I ferment into cider?
Apple is obvious. Cranberry seems like a good idea too. How about orange juice, or even better pineapple juice?

Pear maybe? If you can find it. Your apple cider post inspired me to view the video and do my own. No glass jugs available here that I could fine but I've got a spare LBK.
Good judgment comes from experience, which comes from poor judgment.

Fermented pineapple juice sounds awesome. I made the Bubba's hard citrus punch with natural fruit juice concentrate, which was orange, pineapple, and apple juices so I'm pretty sure that pineapple juice can ferment.

I forgot to mention pear. I think peach will be fun too. I had one of the glass jugs from a 1 gallon ale kit someone got me as a gift. The cap with the hole that the airlock is in wouldn't thread correctly the Whole Foods apple juice jugs so on my next trip to my lhbs I'm going to get a bunch of #6 drilled bungs and more airlocks to I can get the rest of them going. You could always buy a gallon bottle of Carlo Rossi wine.DirtRacer wrote:Pear maybe? If you can find it. Your apple cider post inspired me to view the video and do my own. Don't get me wrong, I love my beer but the thought of being able to make good really cheap tax free booze is too tempting to pass up.
Ok, it's on the short list. On my next lhbs trip, I'm going to pick up a bunch of EC-1118 yeast for this as well.philm00x wrote:Fermented pineapple juice sounds awesome. Man, I have thrown away a few of the wine jugs. I got to remember to keep 1 next time. So how to you set up the "air lock" for this?Root Skier wrote:I forgot to mention pear.
