Hey all Borgaronis, last night I had 1st pours of my Citra Ale and my Amarillo Ale SMASHes. Both were refreshing, tasty, and not too hop-forward.These are examples of how I like my homebrews to turn out. As far as Store-Bought,I finished off my 12pk of Yuengling Black and Tan, a fave from way back that I revisit sometimes. Was gonna go get supplies yesterday, but my battery went Kaput, and until I had it replaced,it was too late to make the trip. We're supposed to have bad weather tomorrow,LHBS is closed Tuesday,so it looks like Wednesday will be the day.Going to brew 2 more SMASHes using Mosiac and Simcoe hops.Should turn out nice. Cheers :freeze:

A Jed’s hard black cherry. Nothing I would ever buy, but believe it or not I found it while shoveling my lower steps of a few minutes ago. Must be one of my kids left it there before all the snow hit. It wasn’t froze (5.9) but was good and cold LOL

Saturday night was "Lil Pulp" from a Bay Area brewery that is turning out some great stuff (Fieldworks).

Session IPA that was outstanding...and slightly hazy [emoji39]

I'm drinking the thing I made with one of the weirder sounding South African hops that I called "BerryBier".

It tastes like blueberries mixed with caramelized apples/pears, with a little bit of some cinnamon/earthy spice mixed in. I think the caramelized part is coming from the caramunich I used, it would probably be more like plain apple/pear juice flavor if I didn't.

It is very odd, they doesn't taste like any other kind of hops I've ever used. That said I like it just fine. It is not as sweet tasting as it sounds from my description, it's pretty well balanced, like an ESB, except with totally different flavors. I just can't figure out how to describe it better.

I do not taste any lemongrass, or gooseberry (white grape like?) flavors which were both part of the hop description. It is very much blueberry and apple/pear. Maybe the lemongrass comes out if you dry hop it in a very pale beer. ???

But if I did it again I'd add some other kind of hops. IE think these hops might be more interesting mixed with some Mosaic. If I have any of them left I might try that in a very pale beer, so everything that can zing zings.

@Mcmurdo Mike, your beer looks nice and stouty. I hope it tastes as good as it looks.

Since I was shamed by some of you to drink a stout, I picked this up at the grocery store the other day while picking up a sammich for lunch. I do have to say it’s not bad at all. I actually enjoyed it. I still can’t do the Imperial or bourbon barrel stouts, those are just not to my liking.

More of that "BerryBier".

I've decided that it's actually quite easy to drink and have consumed it in mass quantity, as have some others who stopped by.

I think I only have 6 bottles left.
