Blowoff Tubing - how do you clean it??

So it looks like the violent part of my Hop Stoopid clone's fermenting has passed, and I'm left with a 4' piece of blowoff tubing that looks pretty disgusting on the inside. I'm not really planning on removing this until I bottle (4 weeks). How do you clean it out? Do you just chuck it and replace?

I use cheapo tubing from Lowe's. When it gets like that, I toss it.

Very warm water and PBW. Let it soak for a few hours. Rinse out with warm water then dunk in Star San and you should be good to go.
But I agree with FIT, sometimes I just pitch and start over.

I use a brush to clean mine (important to get any biomass out of there... The guys at five star chemicals adamently recommend brushing ).

Understand that I use the brushes to clean my transfer tubing as needed as well... Replacing when needed of course.

I have a 1" x 4' brush and a 3/8" x 3' I think... Look like little carboy brushes... LOL!

It helps to remove the blowoff immediately after primary subsides and replace with a standard airlock.

The tubing will come much cleaner as opposed to leaving it for four weeks.

A quick soak in your choice of cleaner/sanitizer, rinse, brush soak rinse does the trick!

Good info, thanks. I cleaned my airlock and fermenter yesterday from overflow. I was surprised how much of it was thick creamy yeast. I tried to save the stuff from the airlock, but it was a tablespoon or so. The stuff in the lid groove had to be hosed off.

Decided to pitch the tubing. Got it off and it was just nasty, lol.

That being said I found this that would be very useful for cleaning blowoff tubing. One of these days maybe I'll grab it and check it out...

Cool... Good selection here, various sizes and a bit less expensive as well...

5 ft of tubing is less than my bar tab for 2 beers. I just pitch mine and replace it after a really active fermentation
