so i found this link over at brew talk that gives you access to an online course at oklahoma u.The course is about the chemistry of beer and is free to the public to check out so why not go all heisenberg on your beer...... i guess the course starts in jan. if anyone is interested

I signed up. We will see how much ochem I remember come January. I always liked ochem, where most of my friends folks hated it. The liner vs. non linear thing (moar != moar)

yea i see they have a regular chem course up now too. so ill try that so some of the wording and calcaulations make a lil more sense to me

Along those lines, here is a recording of a webcast on Advanced Chemistry of Brewing and Beers from the ACS. Its only an hour so I am sure it is nowhere near as detailed as the other one.

Gman, you da - er - man. I signed up for this and meanwhile am doing the Chemistry course. Very excited about this. My science is nil.
Please, classmates, add "brewbirds" to the classroom buddy list and send me a message with your logon name & we can help each other.
I promise not to look on your papers but, right off the bat, I didn't understand the Chemistry question where it has you choose which container to measure 9.2 ml - I went for the small one thinking it would have smaller decimals. It doesn't explain why it chose the other one. Anyone figure that out?

This course requires a background in general chemistry and organic chemistry. I have neither.

BB1 is doing the general chem. in prep for this class. He's been waking up nights with chemistry problems in his head.

Im not too concerned about it. I had it YEARS ago and doubt I remember a whole lot.
