I Have Hops!

Homegrown Cascades. First year plants developed slowly after a cold spring. Pinching off the tops caused side arms to sprout, producing burrs. Heavy rain Friday yielded cones today! Not ready to pick yet, but there will be fresh hops this year.

We have a large garden (25 x 45), but I haven't looked into hops. For a few ounces here and there I can't imagine I'd plant the ones that I'd need. I do enjoy fresh egglplant, corn, peppers, green beans, peas, tomatoes, squash, ... This year the strawberries didn't make it, but they are usually good too.

Enjoy your hops!

I have grown tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, in some very small and partially shaded spots. But nightshade (eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes) aggravate my arthritis. So I gave up vegetables in favor of beer. Had to be done. :)

I looked into growing hops too. But then I read that dogs will die if they consume hops. So I'll stick with some veggies.
