Leinenkugel's Snowdrift Vanilla Porter

I picked up a sixer of this last weekend, and drank the final bottle last night.

Not a bad vanilla porter, although not outstanding. The vanilla flavor was there, but weaker than I would have liked. And the base porter didn't seem as robust as other porters I've had. The whole experience was kind of innocuous, and I expect more from a seasonal specialty beer, frankly. Or maybe I'm spoiled, since my first experience with a vanilla porter was at Rohrbach's brewpub in Rochester, NY, and I was drinking draft. Now THAT was an experience! Great aroma, eye-popping flavor, great finish.

Anyway, I didn't hate this beer; I was just a little disappointed. Worst of all, the bottles are twist-offs, so I can't even reuse them.

Hat, this is an honest and accurate review of this brew.

I've had this (bought it once......ONCE!!) and it's a little....weak.

Vanilla is weak. Aroma is weak. The porter is weak.....hardly any body

Nothing at all like the Breckenridge Brewery Vanilla Porter.

THAT is a great beer.

A good vanilla porter is like liquid cake, isn't it? I brought home a growler of the Rohrbach's and served it at a barbecue for dessert, along with cheesecake. It was a perfect pairing and finished off the meal in grand style.

I have had the snowdrift both from a bottle and on tap. Out of a bottle it was meh at best, too light on the body, not much for malty and roasty flavors like most porters and the vanilla flavor seemed very artificial. On tap the vanilla flavor was less fake tasting and everything was a bit more fresh but otherwise still weak on body and flavor. Not going to buy it again most likely.

Leave it to MillerCoors to consistently produce a mediocre version of a style...

I think this year the SVP was weak compared to last years.

I drink Leinie's often since is cheap (well cheaper @ $1 per beer or less if on sale) and is better than a lot of the other "cheap" beers.

Last year the Oktoberfest was not as good as this years, so I think just not a good Porter year for them.

Now if I want a much better beer I can pay $2 a bottle or more, just saying....
