Mr. B seasonal sale
I got an email yesterday from Mr. B about their new seasonal offering (Spiced Belgian Pale, I believe). Interesting that they are offering a 4-pack of all of the seasonals for the year. So... those were always very limited runs in the past and sold out fast. Did they a) expand the run on those four? Or b) are sales down to a degree that the seasonals aren't moving like they used to?

I am sorry to say I believe the sales are WAYYYYYY down.
I think the new HME's have a funky twang I don't like (Wormwood?) and not buying their stuff since cooper's took over
Once I use up the stuff I bought before the forum issue is gone I will be making scratch

PRIDE OF RINGWOOD. For those that claim bittering hops do not affect flavor, this is a prime example of why that's not true.Trollby wrote:I am sorry to say I believe the sales are WAYYYYYY down.

Although I do not taste it in everything. But some of the HME's it's really strong (Pilsner, Northwest Pale Ale).
I do not get a lot of POR in the seasonals but that doesn't mean it's not there. Everyone has a different threshold where they can taste it.

I got the email too, but I think I won't risk anymore MrBeer HMEs. I've been disappointed too often. And for the price, I can pick up a better can of LME and a pack of better hops at LHBS.

Never mind, there it is.

Yep, I got that, too. I didn't like the White IPA and nothing else really appeals to me enough to take advantage of the 30% off the 4-pack.

I will drain that glass again.

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Yea it's not enough of a discount for me to consider. I'd much rather get more of my old Mr. Beer favorites from BrewDemon.

I echo Mashani here in that the POR or something in these HMEs is off. Almost all of the MB recipes we brewed are still sitting in the beer closet because THAT TASTE won't condition out.
We have actually started trying to blend those with other beer to make them palatble to our taste so we can move on in shelf space.

Well I have asked to be unsubscribed from their emails multiple times. It irritated me when I found once again they had sent me an email and hadn't addressed any question I had posted on their forums.
I figured since they wanted to communicate with me I would try communicating with them. Let's see if they will answer any questions this time around.

I was a big proponent of the seasonals, when they were going though their change-over and didn't offer them, I posted on the MB site a lot about them and asked when they would
be back, also emailed them directly asking about them. With that said, I'm not impressed with their seasonals anymore and I won't buy them. At one time if you didn't get them when they first became available you were $hit-out-of-luck, because they would sell out fast.
I think nobody is buying them like before, because they are just not that good for the price.
I think Eric had a lot to do with the seasonals back then and after he left it went down hill.

Re: Mr. B seasonal sale
The PoR was the telltale taste for me in several of the new extracts, and I've tried all but 3 at this point (contest winnings). Not a fan. The last NW Pale is getting hit with saison yeast, some cubeb berries, maybe some orange peel, and definitely some brett in secondary. All of that should take care of the PoR... right?
