Classic American Blonde question

I have the CAB hme, booster, and yeast. I want to swap the booster for robust molasses. I also have US-05 yeast to use. I have .5 lb each of Cara-pils, Vienna, and Crystal 10L left from my Centennial Blonde. I also have .5 oz Centennial and Cascade hops left as well. 2 lbs extra light dme as well.

I want to brew today. Any problems with using any or all the ingredients? I know hops are not necessary.

Thanks for any info.

Bill

With the 2 pounds dme, could I do a 5 gal batch? I can add all the grain also. Would I just mash the grain normal and add the hme and dme to the boil? Not sure if using hops would make much difference with the hme. How much water should I use? Not sure how to creat or combine recipes yet.

yes mash normal, do not boil the HME add post boil. but do boil DME with hops . i don't have q brew so i can't run it up, but i think you could do a 5er with all that in there.

Thank you for the help. Will the beer be thin at 5 gal?

For the US-05 should I rehydrate or pitch dry?

I've done it both ways and have had great results with each. Earlier today, I used some US-05 and pitched it dry. My preference is to re-hydrate, which is what I usually do.

I figured it's a matter of preference. I know notty suggests not rehydrating which is what prompted my question.

Going to start brewing in a bit.

it might be a little thin at 5 without being able to "run" the hme in beersmith i can only tell you what the other ingredients will come out to in 3 gal then + the hme and approprate water. now this is just doing all the hops as a flavor boil just lookin at what we got. i'm sure you'll want to break it up and do an aroma or dry hop. og 1.040, ibu 29.4, srm 5.5, abv 4.1% agani this is everything but the hme in 3 gal. like rick said no real differance works fine either way

Thanks for running the numbers. Hme with booster is 2 gallons of water for a total of 5 gallons. Should I do .25 oz of both hops at 20 min and .25 oz of both at flameout?

Thanks;

Bill

I ended up using 1 15 oz can hme, 2 pounds light dme, booster, .5 lbs cara-pils, .5 lbs vienna, and .5 lbs caramel 10L. .25 oz cascade and .25 oz centennial 20 min and 5 min. Putting 5 gallons in carboy with rehydrated US-05.

Thanks for all the replies.
