First BIAB!!!!!!!

I got my new 8g brew pot today. I brewed an all grain version of my 'signature' IPA. (Stingray IPA). I got a lot of direction from Phil. I have a lot to work on but I was very happy with the final result. At 5 gallons it has and og of 7.5, the target was 8.0 but getting that close I was more than happy. The color looks beautiful and it has the hops notes I want.

I underestimated the weight of 15lbs of wet grain and my back is paying for that so I need to work some pulley system out. I found this so much more satisfying that extract brewing!

I now really need to get beersmith now.

Great job.
What I do with my BIAB is get a good strainer and a Lowes/Home Depot bucket and another grain bag. Put the grain bag in the bucket and use a strainer to strain grain out of the BIAB bag and into the Lowes bucket. It will drain and removing about half of the grains will make pulling the bag out the pot that much easier. I don't have a place to make a pulley system to pull my bag and this only takes a few minutes more and works just fine for me.
Keep up the good work.

Congrats on the new rig!

Is that 7.5 brix? Or did you mean 1.075? I imagine you meant the latter, since 7.5 brix would be like 1.030 SG which is weak for an IPA. In any case, I definitely recommend getting BeerSmith, because for All-Grain, it is quite invaluable!

Way to go Bull  After my first few MB kits and all that I read here on the borg I went to biab, and have not looked back. Hopefully I will get a burner for Christmas so I can go to 5 gal. batches. There are so many things, variables, you can play with to truely make a brew that is your own. Congratulations.

Congratulations Bret on your first successful BIAB.

I'm like others, started with MrB, then 2.5 gallon BIAB and learned for the same amount of time I could make 5 gallons. So just make sure you have plenty of bottles on hand.
Hate to tell you this but next stop is kegging.

BeerSmith, Oh heck yeah, one of the best brewing tools I own.

If you have a place to use it
this hoist works pretty well. I don't have one, like others I have no overhead hook up, but have a friend who does. Though he actually uses his to lift deer.
