Sam Adams Irish Red

From the Brewmasters Collection, this is a solid beer.
Aroma is malty and sweet (caramel) with a good hint of hops in the nose. Pours dark red/mahogany color with an off white head. Crystal clear when held to the light, really pretty to look at actually. Lacing is fair and sticks around through the whole glass unless you swish it around like I do.
Flavor is medium sweet, malty, nutty and notes of roasted malt with a little bitterness on the front end that lingers. I think this is a well balanced beer with enough hops to offset the maltiness - profile is not too sweet - slightly on the dry side. Excellent flavor, medium body. Overtones of graininess and fairly carbonated.
I like this one and would like to put it side by side with Boulevard's Irish Ale when it comes available in spring.
